Nikhitha Swaminathan won 1st place in the Mathematics at the Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair on Saturday, 2/14. Her project "Q-Safe: : Mitigating Quantum Threats with Lattice-Based Cryptography" will be moving on to compete in the State Science Fair. Way to go, Nikitha!

Attention 8th Grade Families! If you are interested in your student taking a CBE (Credit By Examination) Test, registration is now open. Please see the Counselors Corner page of the Ereckson website for specific details and registration instructions.

Hello Husky Families! As always, your counselors are here to support you and your student. If you have any concerns about your student, please reach out to their counselor. Counselor emails are on the front page of the Ereckson website. You can also call the school and ask to be transferred to your student's counselor.

Guidance

We will be wrapping up our state mandated Bullying Lesson with both 7th and 8th graders by the end of the month. This lesson reviews the definition, types and signs of bullying and empowers students with the tools to be upstanders.

Course selection for both 7th and 8th graders is now complete. Thank you for your support in helping your student select their courses for next year. The final review window will be May 2nd-6th. 7th grade applications are still being reviewed. Students will be notified at a later date if they have been selected.

Allen ISD Introduces My Ride K-12 for Transportation Updates

Allen ISD announces the adoption of the My Ride K-12 system, beginning in January 2025. This new platform gives parents and students real-time access to bus route numbers, scheduled stop times, and stop locations.

Allen ISD’s Transportation Department will use this system to communicate bus delays, route changes, or other updates directly to users. Families are encouraged to set up accounts during winter break to ensure a smooth start in January.

Key Features of My Ride K-12:

• View registered student bus information securely.

• Receive updates, notifications, and important messages about bus routes.

• Access via mobile app or website.

How to Get Started

Mobile App

1. Download the MyRideK-12 app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store

2. Open the app

3. Register your account with an email, password, and name.

4. Confirm registration through the email link provided.

5. Log in

6. Search for Allen ISD.

7. Add your student using their ID and birthday.

8. View bus information or share access with another registered user.

9. Stay logged in to receive district notifications.

1. Visit Allen ISD's MyRideK-12 portal using Chrome or Firefox.

2. Register your account if you are a new user.

3. Confirm registration via the email link.

4. Log in, add a student, and view transportation details.

Documenting Student Absences

Use one of these options to document a student’s absence:

• Log into SKYWARD, click on the “Attendance” tab, click on “submit an Absence Request” and then complete the request. No further documentation or phone call is required. This is our preferred method.
• Call the Attendance Clerk at 972-747-3308 x244160. Please have your student’s ID number available.
• Parent/guardian notes must have a parent/guardian signature and include your student’s ID number. These can be dropped off at the school or scanned (JPEG or PDF) and emailed to william.lazarus@allenisd.org.

A couple of reminders:

• Absence notes must be received within three days of the student’s return to school. Otherwise, the absence will remain as unexcused. Truancy notifications will be sent when the student has 3 or more unexcused absences (full or partial days).

• A medical note is required for students who miss more than five consecutive days of school.
• Absence requests for Religious Holy Days must include the name of the holy day.

Please do not pick up your student when waiting on Tatum, it is unsafe to have your student loading your vehicle on a main street. We want all students to use cross walks and loading areas for the safety of everyone.

Please note that there are no left turns out of the North EMS parking lot 3:15-4:00 pm! During after school pick up please be mindful not to block driveways of our neighbors and watch for pedestrians.

All students are required to wear a school ID. Lunch detentions will be earned for every 3 incidents without a badge. You are welcome to buy a second ID if you wish. If needed, you may purchase a new ID from the library – the cost is $5
