The Lion's Roar
Gloucester High School - Weekly Newsletter
Partnership. Performance. Pride
Principal's Message
Hello Parents,
Our aim with this weekly newsletter is to continue to find ways to increase and enhance communications amongst school community members to support all students on their paths towards self-actualization. Please help spread the word about this newsletter with Lions everywhere. They can sign up simply by submitting their email address towards the bottom of this newsletter.
This week witnessed the close of the 1st marking period. Report cards will arrive at student homes within the next few days. We encourage all parents to utilize their daily access to their child's grades through the MMS Parent Portal.
Our football stadium was filled with Lions pride on Wednesday night as hundreds of family members and friends enjoyed our "Powder Puff Football Game" with over $825.00 being raised for our Junior Prom and Senior trip. We'll wrap up the week with performances of this year's outstanding, fun-filled drama, The Elves and the Shoemaker including an in-school performance with elementary students from Cold Springs School and Alice Costello School and local senior citizens as our special guests.
The upcoming week is always one of the most memorable of the school year. We'll welcome back more than a dozen recent graduates for our yearly "Graduate Panel Breakfast" on Wednesday morning. These young alumni represent all post-secondary pursuits---college, military enlistment, technical programs, employment, etc.---and share powerfully authentic insights and advice about their experiences after high school with our current Seniors. We'll also welcome servicemen and women from every branch of the United States military on Wednesday. They will present to all high school students about career and educational opportunities offered by our armed forces. Wednesday's early dismissal schedule will conclude with a pep rally that is certain to bring energy and school spirit levels to a boiling point as we prepare for our annual Thanksgiving Day football rivalry versus Gloucester Catholic.
As Thanksgiving approaches, know that all of us at GHS are infinitely thankful to work with you and your children throughout such a special time in your lives.
In Partnership,
Sean Gorman
