Mar Vista Parent Newsletter
Week of April 26, 2021
Dear Families,
Thank you again for helping with the drop off and pick up process! Just a reminder that pre-screening using the 5Star Link before school saves time. The link can be found on the Mar Vista homepage. If you haven't used it yet, you will need your child's student ID number which is found on their green 5Star badge. Also, thank you for keeping the foot traffic down and allowing space for students to wait up at the pick up area. If you are walking to pick up, please wait toward the marquee sign and you child will be sent up as soon as they arrive to the courtyard. Please also remember to follow COVID safety guidelines by practicing social distancing while waiting. We appreciate your help with the process!
This is week two of the Read-a-Thon and we really appreciate everyone's support of this great fundraising opportunity! For more information please see the link below! The event ends this Friday, so it's not too late to start reading and help our MVPs raise funds for the school.
Thank you,
Stephanie Monroe, Principal

Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update
Hi Families!
Thanks for your help with doing the health symptoms pre-screening before bringing your children to school for in-person learning. This form can be found on the Mar Vista website. This makes the arrival process much quicker for everyone!
Just a reminder that the annual state assessment, referred to as the SBAC, will not need to be administered this year. This will allow teachers more time to focus on teaching the standards. We will continue using our MAP assessment data to monitor progress and to support student needs. The third administration of this assessment for the year will take place in the beginning of May.
Thank you to everyone that has sent in pictures for the spirit days! This is one way we are trying to maintain connection and community, so it is appreciated. This week is bookworm day! Take a picture of you reading in support of the read-a-thon and send it a picture to be featured on the Mar Vista News.
Most students will be continuing unit 7 in our language arts curriculum, Benchmark, this week.

Hello,
Good news! What's not to love about pets? Here are some tips on how to choose a pet that best suits your family but also how to get the kids to care for them once the novelty has worn off.

They purchased Zearn for us and I have to say it has been a HUGE support for my math program. I also appreciate the $400 classroom funds because I have been purchasing chapter book sets for my class. I also really appreciate Ashley continuing on being treasurer with her full time job. -Miss Risa
