Greetings CMSD Family and Friends,
As we navigate each day at CMSD, our focus remains clear and unwavering: we are here for our scholars. Every decision, every initiative, every plan we pursue centers on one primary goal—the success and well-being of our students. The experiences they have during their time with us are not just about academic progress; they are the foundation upon which they will build their futures, their character, and their identities.
We believe that a truly impactful education is one that places equity at its core. Equitable experience ensures that each student can succeed, regardless of the school they attend, the neighborhood they come from, or the challenges they face. It’s the promise we make to our scholars that, no matter their journey, they will be valued, supported, and given the resources they need to thrive. Every scholar in our District deserves a fair, enriching, and challenging educational experience.
Why This Work Matters
My passion for this work comes from my own experiences and challenges. I know firsthand the transformative power of education and what it can do to shape a young person’s life. It is what brought me to CMSD and what drives me each day to fight for our scholars. Growing up, I faced obstacles that could have held me back—but it was the commitment of those around me to invest in my potential, to see me not for my circumstances but for my possibility, that shaped who I am today.
This is why I am deeply committed to ensuring that every scholar in CMSD receives that same commitment. I want every student in this District to feel that their education matters, that their potential is limitless, and that we are here, as a District, to support their dreams and aspirations.
Building the Best Student Experience Across All Schools
At CMSD, we understand that achieving equity is not about treating every student the same but about recognizing each student’s unique needs and meeting them. This means delivering the resources, support, and opportunities that are right for each individual. Whether it’s providing mental health resources, engaging in culturally responsive teaching, or creating advanced learning opportunities in underserved communities, we are actively working to level the playing field, so all scholars have the chance to succeed.
The foundation of a great student experience starts with listening—listening to the voices of our scholars, our families, and our educators. We are continuously working to create those spaces where every student feels heard, understood, and respected. With their insights we can create a District that is responsive to the needs of our community, and every student’s experience reflects a commitment to fairness and inclusivity.
Our Vision for the Future
I firmly believe that when we invest in the student experience, we invest in the future. Our scholars face a world that is rapidly changing, a world that demands creativity, resilience, and courage. By committing to an equitable and enriching experience for each of them, we are preparing them to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and integrity.
To our educators, families, and community members—thank you for your partnership, your advocacy, and your belief in our scholars. Together, we are creating a CMSD that prioritizes academic excellence that celebrates and nurtures each child’s potential. This is our calling and our responsibility, and I am proud to serve alongside each of you on this journey.
In gratitude,
Dr. Warren Morgan

Parent School Calendar Survey
Cleveland Metropolitan School District is interested in learning what parents and guardians think of their children's school calendars, including the lengths of school days and years. A summary of the results will be shared with the Board of Education and used by the Board as they make decisions related to calendars in the district. The survey is anonymous and voluntary and will take approximately ten minutes to complete.
