A Message from Ms. Lee
It's officially fall in Indiana which means it's time to say "see you later" to summer. For schools, that means we're really digging into our curriculum and getting into a good routine. Hopefully this means a good routine at home as well!
We've been trying to incorporate some new pieces here at EIS this year. You can view our announcements on Facebook Live by "liking" Edgewood Intermediate School. We're also using this feature to get announcements out to our families. ChromeBooks are being incorporated across the grade levels with 1 cart for every 2 classrooms. Also, Boys and Girls Club of Ellettsville has made a new home in the EIS building. These are all exciting changes that we hope make the educational experience better for our students by providing them additional opportunities.
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns. I so appreciate our family partnerships!
Jennifer

Flu Facts...Stay Informed to Keep Our Students Healthy
It’s that time of year again…Know your facts
The flu is very contagious and it can spread easily and quickly
Before you even know you are sick you can pass the flu onto others
The flu can affect anyone, including those who are healthy
You need to be vaccinated against the flu every year
It takes 1 to 4 days for flu symptoms to appear after being exposed to the virus
Most people recover from the flu in 7-10 days
What does the flu look like??
High fever
Cough
Muscle aches
Other common symptoms include:
headache
chills
loss of appetite
fatigue (tiredness)
sore throat
runny or stuffy nose
Some people, especially children, may also experience:
a stomach ache
diarrhea
nausea and vomiting
If your child is experiencing symptoms of the flu please keep them home. The clinic has limited resources and is NOT a substitute for being seen by a physician. Students who are not actively vomiting and do not have a fever over 100.0 degrees will not be sent home. If a student calls for a ride without being seen in the clinic it will be recorded as an unexcused absence. Students who are ill may come to the clinic for over the counter medicines and rest. Please do not send medications to school with students. All medication must be brought to school by parents in the original container and signed in to the clinic. When your child is done with his/her medication, it can be picked up by a parent.
As always, please help us prevent the spread of germs and wash your hands frequently!
