For safety reasons, ALL parents/guardians/visitors/guests that come to the school for ANY reason are required to check in and speak with someone in the office upon arrival. Please use the main school entrance at all times, and ring the buzzer outside for entry. Under no circumstances, can anyone come into the building and roam freely throughout the school; This is a huge safety concern and is NOT permitted. If you need to see your child, check their locker, speak with a teacher etc, someone in the office will help you with that. The safety of the children is our top priority at all times, and we ask for your full cooperation with this.

Please note that we do have severe allergies to Fish, Shellfish, Visible Eggs, and any and all kinds of Nuts. Please refrain from bringing these products into our school. Given the similarities in appearance, texture and taste, peanut butter replacement products that are currently on the market will continue to be restricted in schools where a student has a peanut allergy, this includes Roncalli Elementary School. No peanut butter replacement products are permitted in our school. As well, we are a Scent Aware School; Please refrain from using scented products if you are coming into our building.

If your child has lost or misplaced something, please encourage them to come have a look to see if anything belongs to them. Parents are also more than welcome to stop by the front lobby to have a look.

Next week, April 14 - 17th is Fun and Friendship Week at Roncalli! This is a week where we try to incorporate a few extra activities to enhance the learning and school life experiences for the children. It is a way for us to promote kindness, strengthen bonds, make memories, and build on the already positive and inclusive environment that we have here at Roncalli. Please see the plans for the week below.

Easter/Spring break is from Friday April 18th to Sunday April 27th inclusive. There is no school for students during this time as school is closed. School will resume on Monday, April 28th, and it will be Day 1 on the cycle.

Kinderstart registration for the 2025 - 2026 school year will take place in May, more details will come soon.

Our spring concert - talent show will take place on Thursday, May 15th at 10:00 AM. This will involve our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students. Details on tickets will follow.

Our Grade 5 and Grade 6 Band Concert will take place on Thursday, May 29th at 1:30 PM. This will involve our Grade 5 and Grade 6 Band students. More information to come.

Our 2024 - 2025 Kindergarten Celebration will take place on Friday, May 30th at 1:00 PM. We look forward to our Kindergarten families joining us for this significant milestone, as we celebrate the growth, the learning, and the wonderful first year of school for our little treasures.

This past week was National Assistant Principal's Week, which gave us yet another reason and oppoortunity to celebrate and thank our very own wonderful Ms. Sturge for all that she does each and every day. Her commitment and support to our students and families is very much appreciated. Thank you Ms. Sturge for all that you do to help our students and school community learn and grow.

We ask that students please DO NOT bring personal belongings such as balls, games, cards, toys etc. to school. We have plenty of resources and equipment here at the school for the children to use. Oftentimes, when the children bring their own belongings, they get misused at times and in places where they should not be used. As well, we cannot be responsible for any lost or damaged personal belongings.

If you have any fireworks or milestones that you would like to add to our morning announcements, please email Ms. Trina Pearce (trinapearce@nlschools.ca). Celebrating any and all accomplishments of our students is important to us.

A reminder that students are not permitted to call home for forgotten items (i.e., instruments, water bottles, etc. during the day, unless absolutely necessary). We are trying to encourage independence and responsibility in our students. If it is necessary, we at the office will call for them to reduce the amount of instructional time interrupted.
