Celebrating the 5th Graders

What a beautiful day we had to celebrate our 5th Graders! Thank you to the 5th grade parent committee who organized the events which included, rock painting, kick-ball, basketball, minute to win it, tie-dye and more! Our day ended with teacher vs student tug-of-war and student awards. As we bid farewell to our 5th graders, we want to thank all of our families for your support this year and best of luck at Glenn Westlake Middle School. Our Butterfield Blue Jays will now become Westlake Wildcats.

We will have 2 material drop off days for all BF families. Materials that need to be returned are all Ipads and Chromebooks with chargers, specific classroom manipulatives, library books, or any additional classroom materials that your child may have used while at home. If your child is in school, we will collect their supplies, but for those students who are still remote, the drop off times are as follows:

Thursday, May 27, Last Day of School- 2:30pm-4:00pm

Friday, May 28, No School- 8:00am-4:00pm

ALL SD44 Technology Devices Must Be Returned

Closing Thoughts from Dr. Spychalski

When I was asked back in August to be the Interim Principal at Butterfield School, of course the answer was YES, as I have been a part of the D44 family for 16 years. All educators were about to embark on a new school year that was like no other, so as a team, we needed to make sure all of our students and families were supported. As I expand my administrative role next year in other ways to support to the D44 families, there are many people I would like to thank that made this school year a success:

To the Board of Education~ Thank you for always putting our students and families first.
To the Families at Butterfield~ Thank you for your immense support in keeping our school safe this year. Thank you for being our learning partners, as we could not have been so successful without your support.
To the Students at Butterfield~ Thank you for trusting us as we have learned a lot from you whether you were in-person or remote.
To the Amazing Butterfield Staff~ Thank you for going above and beyond each and every day this year ensuring our students received the best. I cannot say enough about the talented staff in our school.

And finally, thank you, to Mrs. Kate Ostrander, new Principal for Butterfield School 2021-22, who worked tirelessly beside me creating relationships with students and families, supporting our teachers, and making sure our students had the best possible school year.

Enjoy your summer with your children! I will be sure to stop by throughout the year to visit your Blue Jays, as they will always have a special place in my heart.
