Principal's Message
The days between the February and the Easter break may have seemed a little long, but we’re going to make up for it now. Returning from holidays with only two months left in school will go fast! Bring on spring!
Grade 9 through 11 students were to have their course selection papers in and signed by a guardian before they left on holidays. If your child didn’t hand it in, then be sure to remind them to get it in asap. The computer program that we use will determine their classes if we don’t get anything returned to the office.
Tornado Athletics have been doing well. Our archery team has archers heading to a national competition in Alberta, our table tennis duo returned with gold medals from provincials, and we have badminton players who qualified for regionals. Woo hoo! Stay tuned to see how these athletes end their season!
Thank you to everyone who purchased from our middle years Mom’s Pantry annual fundraiser. This is the best chance our students have to raise money for the school to support their athletics and clubs. In addition, we had extra fundraising happening for band students going on spring band trips, which were well supported by our community.
We appreciate your support,
Carmen Messer
This month’s GRIT award for grade 6 goes to Savannah Kuras! This year, Savannah has done an excellent job of showing GRIT. Savannah shows grow and resilience by striving to do her best, by demonstrating a willingness to tackle and solve problems, and by not giving up when tasks become difficult. Savannah consistently shows integrity in her actions and words by being open, honest, and willing to lend a helping hand. Savannah shows togetherness by being a cooperative group partner and welcoming to her peers. Congratulation Savannah!
This month's Grade 7 GRIT award goes to Ellie Garinger. Ellie displays GRIT in both her academics and extracurricular activities. She is focused and consistently strives to do well. She is a great listener, always shows respect for others, participates in group work, and is reliable. Ellie's commitment to hard work not only elevates her own learning, but also fosters a supportive learning environment for others. She shows good sportsmanship and leadership in her various extracurricular activities, and is a great asset to any team! Way to go, Ellie!
The Grade 8 GRIT award for this month goes to Gage Spagrud. Gage has shown a tremendous amount of growth this year, not only in his work but also in his focus and integrity. He is receptive to feedback, and is applying it to his work. He knows when it is time to get down to work, and when it is time to relax a little. He is increasingly willing to share his knowledge with his classmates, either in a whole class setting or working in small groups. He will stand up for what he thinks is right in the classroom, especially when it comes to his classmates. Keep up the good work, Gage!
This month's Grade 9 GRIT award goes to Colter Russell. Colter impressed me with his work ethic in the shop this semester. He took instruction, followed his plans and worked extremely well individually and as part of a team. He was confident because he practiced his skills and became proficient with each machine and shop operation. His diligence to perfection led to him creating an impressive final product. He used each minute in the shop to work, and his work ethic allowed him time to make not just one stool, as is the requirement, but three well-made stools. This is why Colter is a deserving recipient of this month's GRIT award.
This month's Grade 10 GRIT Award goes to Brandt Zslnka. Brandt is sharp-witted, smart, and a motivated student at TMSS. He is willing to help others, if you don't mind a joke or two. He has a heart for justice and upholds integrity daily. Not only that, but he is funny to joke around with and has a bright future ahead of himself in Politics if he so chooses. Brandt exemplifies the GRIT mantra of growth, resilience, integrity, and togetherness during his time at TMSS. Keep up the great work, Brandt!
The Grade 11 GRIT award winner goes to Samuel Smith! Sam displays the mantra of GRIT by working hard inside and outside of the classroom. Sam constantly asks questions to deepen his understanding and truly tries to learn the content and apply it to the real world. He is engaged in every class he is in, works hard, and is a positive leader and role model to his friends and his peers. While many students try to learn content to do well on an assessment, Sam has a holistic view of learning and engages on a higher level. He is always looking for opportunities to connect what we are learning in the classroom to something he already knows, or apply the newfound concepts to deepen his understanding of the world. Congratulations Sam!
Congratulations to our April Grade 12 GRIT winner, Dawn Bernard. Dawn has been an exemplary student throughout the month, consistently demonstrating the values of GRIT. She approaches every task with dedication and focus, completing her work to a high standard and always staying on track. Dawn is a quiet leader in the classroom—reliable, respectful, and consistently focused on her learning. She regularly lends a helping hand to her peers, whether it’s through explaining concepts or encouraging others to stay engaged. Her steady work ethic and positive presence make her a shining example of what it means to have GRIT. Great job, Dawn!

Jr. Badminton
Jr. Badminton had a fun season, ending with NESSAC playoffs in Nipawin on April 15. Sawyer and Andrew were the boys doubles silver medal winners. Congratulations, boys!
Sr. Badminton
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the fantastic year we've had with Tisdale Sr. Badminton at TMSS. The sportsmanship and willingness of our students to cheer for one another have been truly inspiring. Their positive mindset and eagerness to learn and improve have made coaching a pleasure. This year, we had the opportunity to compete in Naicam, Hudson Bay, Melfort, and Nipawin. Each outing was a success, and our team represented TMSS with pride. Additionally, on April 16th, we participated in the NESSAC tournament in Melfort, where two of our students advanced to regionals on May 3rd in Prince Albert.
Thank you for your support throughout the 2025 badminton season. It has been an honor to coach these young athletes.

Archery
Our Tornados Archery team journeyed to Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, to participate in this year's NASP Provincial competition. Both the Junior and Senior teams showcased impressive talent, with numerous archers achieving personal bests throughout the weekend.
Hunter M. placed 3rd in the entire tournament out of 229 boys.
Raquelle N. secured 3rd place among all grade 11 girls in both 3D and bullseye events.
- Katelyn M. finished in 1st place for grade 12 girls in 3D.
- Braxton R. earned 2nd place for grade 10 boys in 3D and 3rd in bullseye.
Timothy K. took 3rd place for grade 11 boys in bullseye.
Overall, our high school team earned a silver medal in both 3D and bullseye categories, while our middle school team also achieved silver in 3D.
Grade 6 Band Trip
In April, the grade 6 band students travelled to Saskatoon to participate in a musical workshop with Dr. Glen Gillis at the U of S. They then stopped at Fuddruckers for lunch before heading to the Western Development Museum where they worked their way through a scavenger hunt. Thanks, Ms. Will for providing this experience!
CHUMS Mentorship Program Builds Friendships and Fun
The Caring Helping You and Me Sharing (CHUMS) Program brought together students from TES and TMSS twice a month throughout the fall and winter months. This mentorship initiative provided a wonderful opportunity for younger and older students to connect through a variety of engaging activities.
From crafts and games to spirited scavenger hunts, the CHUMS program offered something for everyone. Highlights of the year included a special matinee outing at the Falkon Community Theatre and a creative DIY signs project in collaboration with Reflections Paint.
A big thank you to Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program for their generous grant, which made these memorable experiences possible!
Many of our Sr. CHUMS will be graduating this year. We want to thank them and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. TMSS high school students that are interested in becoming a Sr. CHUM with the program for next school year can come talk to Katie, the TMSS outreach worker.
