Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
A few items for you this week:
Perception Survey
The Fulton County Parent Perception Survey remains open through March 15. As of yesterday, Dolvin’s parent participation rate was 24.86% (134 individuals have completed the survey). Please find a moment to complete the survey before the deadline. The more parents that complete the survey, the more reliable the data becomes.

Parents of Rising Kindergarten - 5th Grade Students
We encourage your involvement in our student placement process for the 2024-2025 school year as it is one of several pieces of information we use to place your child in an appropriate classroom setting. Parents can click on this link to provide information you feel will be relevant in helping place your child for the 23-24 school year. Please note that we do not honor requests for specific teachers, so please refrain from using teacher names on the form. Responses will be collected March 7-29, 2024.
If you have any questions reach out to Carrie Halron at Halron@fultonschools.org
PBIS At-Home Tip of the Week
Be a Teacher - When you have to say NO, give a reason why. For example, while shopping, your child asks you to buy him a toy. You know how many toys he already has, and you are short on time. You tell your child, “No, we can’t buy that toy today because you already have a toy in the car that you can play with on the way home.” If your child accepts your answer, compliment him, saying something like “Thank you for being respectful and understanding that we can’t buy a new toy today.” 😊
As with all of these tips, please remember that different homes may have different expectations for their children’s behavior. Whatever you as a parent decide is right and okay for your home, it is important that you set the expectations and follow through! Remember that every child is different, even children in the same family living in the same home. What works for some children will not work for all!
Don't Miss The PreK Lottery!
The lottery for the 24-25 PreK Class is now accepting applications! Please visit the homepage of Dolvin.org for the link and more details. Applications for the lottery must be in by March 8, 2024. Applying for the lottery is not the same as registering for school. Registration will only be necessary for PreK if you receive a spot.

Volunteers
As of January 3, 2024, Fulton County Schools is utilizing the CheckMate Sign-In system to welcome visitors and volunteers into our schools. CheckMate has replaced the Raptor system. Unfortunately, the Volunteer Registration system did not roll over into the new system and all School Volunteers will need to re-register. Any task that will allow you to interact with students will require you to register as a Volunteer. The new re-registration will be effective until May 31, 2026. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. Please follow the link below to access the FCS Volunteer Registration page.

Important - All Visitors and Volunteers must remember to bring in their driver's license each time they sign in. The license will be scanned each time. Thank you for your patience as we are implementing this new safety procedure.
Rising 6th Grade Parents - School Governance Council (SGC)
Dear Rising 6th Grade Autrey Mill Middle School Parents,
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has one parent position open for election starting in July 2024. It is a two-year term.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers: • Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan • Manage the Request for Flexibility process • Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations • Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy • Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance.
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent Candidate Form . Forms will be available on Monday, February 5th.
We are very excited about the work of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 29th and voting will take place April 17th to April 24th. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit Charter System (SGC) / Charter System Overview (fultonschools.org).

School Store Volunteer Request
The Dolvin PTA School Store takes place on select Wednesdays in the month before school starts. We sell fun school related products mostly all less than $1. It's fun for the kids and helps them manage the money they have, to make necessary trade-offs for the things they really want.
We are in search of parent volunteers to help us manage the store. It is a great way to interact with the kids and happens before the school or work day starts.
