First Semester Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 22. To best fit the needs and preferences of our families, Leyden will be offering virtual conferences from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and in-person, on campus conferences from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Upon request, translators will be available for both virtual and in-person conferences.

Parents/guardians must sign-up electronically to be able to meet virtually with each individual teacher. The registration scheduler opens for families on Tuesday, October 15, at 8:00 a.m. and is accessible through Home Access Center (HAC). A slide deck with instructions is available online, and contains parent/guardian login information. The registration period closes on Tuesday, October 22, at 8 a.m.

Parents and guardians who plan on attending Parent-Teacher Conferences next week will be asked to provide feedback on a new effort to improve course-related communication. Leyden will be implementing a common syllabus, a standard document across all courses, that will help explain assignments, expectations and assessments, and will be sharing a draft during conferences. Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the tables located near the main entrance, to review the template and provide feedback. Translation support will be provided.

After the varsity football game against Willowbrook on October 25, Leyden will host a drone show spectacular to celebrate its 100th anniversary! All football game spectators are invited to remain in the stands immediately after the game to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.

West Leyden hosts Application Mania for seniors on Wednesday, October 30, in the College and Career Room. Counselors will be available all day to help students complete college applications.

Registration is open for winter sports. Students interested in participating in a winter sport must register online and have a current physical on file before they can attend practice.

Leyden Student Services offers a virtual parent series through a partnership with Glenbard Parent Series (GPS) that provides free, public, day and evening sessions.

On Tuesday, October 22, Dr. Laura Koehler will present a Hybrid Event - Teen Anxiety and School Anxiety: Dealing with Reisistance and Refusal.

On Monday, October 28, Silvia Moreno-Garcia will be in person at the College of Dupage. She will be presenting a community read, “Gods of Jade and Power”

Boys soccer defeated Downers Grove South 4-2 to finish the season 6-0. They are back to Back West Suburban Conference Gold Champions! The team will compete in the IHSA Regional Semi-finals at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at East Leyden.

On Friday, October 25, CBS Chicago News will be spending the morning and evening on our campuses, highlighting all of the great things going on at Leyden in celebration of our 100th anniversary. The film crew will be on location at East in the morning, and West after school and into the start of the evening football game.

We are really excited for this opportunity to showcase our students and their involvement in their school and community. Be sure to check out the live coverage during their morning and evening broadcasts, between 6:50 a.m. - 9:50 a.m. and 4:08 p.m. -6:18 p.m. on Channel 2.
