Marysville Students and Community Member Receive WASA Awards
Congratulations to students Ms. Claire Michal and Ms. Gianna Frank, and community member Mr. Ron Friesen! The students and Mr. Friesen were honored at the Washington Association of School Administrators Regional Awards Recognition event on May 16 at the Sno-Isle Skill Center. Claire and Gianna each received the Student Leadership Award.
The Marysville School District is so proud of these students' accomplishments. We look forward to seeing where their goals and dreams will take them after graduation!
Mr. Friesen received the Community Leadership Award. The district appreciates Mr. Friesen's support, positive energy, wisdom, knowledge, and advocacy for children and their education. We are so thankful for him and are honored to present him with this award.
District Siblings Represent Marysville in USA Judo Competitions
On May 11th, Cedarcrest Middle School's Innozen Alberto, a 7th grader, competed and placed 2nd in the USA Judo: 2024 Pacific Northwest High School & Middle School Judo Championships. Innozen has been in Judo for three years.
He represented Cedarcrest Middle School and the Marysville School District well at the event held in Kent, WA alongside students from Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
Innozen's younger brother, Emanuel, also competes. Emanuel, a 5th grade HiCAP student at Liberty Elementary School, placed 1st in his division at the USA Judo Championship. This summer, he will be traveling with his family to Pittsburgh, PA for 2024 USA Judo Junior Olympic National and International Championships. His mother, Cleo, says his goal is to rank high and one day represent team USA in Judo.
Emanuel also wrestles competitively, and won 3rd place at the Washington State Wrestling Association's WWKWL Novice Championship on February 4th.
Totem Middle School Hosts College and Career Fair
Totem Middle School’s College and Career Fair event on Wednesday, May 15th, was a terrific success, with representatives from 25 high school programs, colleges, and careers in attendance. In addition, 8th-grade students could attend virtual sessions with 20 guest speakers. The speakers were chosen based on students' interests in fields like graphic design, animation, fashion, film production, architecture, forensics, marketing, aerospace manufacturing, and engineering.
