PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
As the temperatures start to get a tiny bit cooler, it is such a joy to spend time outside with our students! All students have lunch recess and a grade level recess at another time in the day, and many classrooms are finding opportunities for expanded outdoor learning activities. I’m always grateful to live in beautiful Colorado, most especially so that our children can access the outdoors throughout the year!
As you know, student safety is the top priority here at Eagle Crest. To help keep children and staff safe at school we utilize an emergency system called the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is used throughout the state of Colorado and incorporates a series of drills that we practice throughout the year to develop “muscle memory” for what to do in case of an emergency. Yesterday, we facilitated a lockdown drill across our school with support from our School Resource Officers. Our students and staff did an excellent job in following the protocol and practicing the safety expectations. I am linking some family information around SRP to this newsletter if you would like to check it out. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Has your child lost something at school already this year? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! Our Lost and Found Cart is especially full right now, as we've been experiencing cooler mornings and hot afternoons. Students are shedding their jackets and sweaters by midday, and it's easy to forget these items.
Please stop by the Lost and Found Cart tomorrow (Friday) before or after school to see if your child's missing item is there. It will be located in front of the school.
We're always happy to help reunite families with their lost belongings. Feel free to stop by the front office anytime before or after school to come and check the cart.
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students
Eagle Crest Elementary

GIFTED & TALENTED REFERRALS
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open now and will close on September 30th. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the entire school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. You can access the online referral process here.
Please contact Lindsey Cheney for more information.
FREE AND REDUCED FEES
While lunch charges no longer apply, we kindly urge all families to complete the Free & Reduced Fees Application.
