SMS WEEKLY UPDATE
November 18-November 22
Hello Stevenson Families!
The Week in Review
Hello Stevenson Families!
This week Mr. Basista, our new Assistant Principal, came on board and jumped right into his new role! It's been awesome seeing all of our students welcome him into our school community. I'm so happy with all of our Saints!
This week we also had cheer tryouts. Congratulations to all of our students who made the cut, and thank you to all the students who put themselves out there and tried out. I'm proud of each and every one of you! And thank you to Ms. Britney and Ms. Littlefield for making try outs happen.
Next week, we'll be starting some new rules. Please know these rules are designed to reduce school disruptions. Our priority is to ensure a safe environment in which students can learn, and that involves removing distractions from our students. Thank you in advance for understanding.
Read on to see the updates for the week ahead!
Go Saints!

New Rules
Contacting Your Student
If you're trying to reach your student during the school day, please do not text or call your child's cell phone. This causes a serious disruption, as phones are not allowed in the school.
If you need to contact your student, please call the main office. They can either relay your message or they will have them call you back.
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation!
Student Entry Into Basketball Games
Students who are interested in attending the home basketball games must have zero tardies AND must purchase a ticket with PBIS points at their lunch.
Tickets will cost 20 PBIS points. Students must not have any tardies on the day of the game for Monday games, or any tardies the week of the game for Wednesday games. Any tardies in those time frames will disqualify a student from attending the game.
When at the game, we have the following expectations:
1. Students are seated in the student section, unless seated with a parent or guardian.
2. No outside food or drink is allowed. Students will not bring in food or drink from local stores.
3. We will use appropriate language.
4. We will clean up after ourselves.
5. We will encourage our team in an appropriate manner, and will exhibit good sportsmanship.
Failure to meet these expectations will result in dismissal from the game.
Be ready to cheer on our team! Go Saints!
Parent University Interest Survey
Please complete the QUICK 4-question survey to help us prepare for our future SMS Parent University. We appreciate your input!
Appointments Required
If you are interested in speaking with an administrator or behavior team member, please call and make an appointment. That is the only way to guarantee you'll be able to get in. School days in the middle school are very busy, and we spend every minute with students and staff.
If you show up at the school without an appointment, you will be asked to schedule an appointment when a team member is available.
You are always welcome to email members of administration and behavior team as well!
Thank you for your understanding and support!
Bus Cancellations
If your child cannot come to school because of a bus cancellation, please be sure to call the attendance line to report your child's absence. You can contact the attendance line at 734-419-2370.
RAPS Focus Areas for November
Take a look at our focus areas for RAPS in November. This month we'll focus on Safety. In each class every day, students are able to earn 2 PBIS points for following the behavior expectations in this area. Students will be able to use their PBIS points to purchase items in our school store, replacement IDs, and admission to sporting events next season.
