Demo Family Memo- Dress Code
October 24th, 2024
Principal Message
Dear Jefferson Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to clarify our dress code policy regarding the wearing of hoods inside the school building, as discussed in our recent staff meeting.
For the safety and security of all students, hoods may not be worn at any time inside Jefferson High School. This policy is firm, with no exceptions. Students are still permitted to wear other head coverings such as hats, caps, and scarves, provided they comply with the student handbook guidelines regarding appropriateness.
The handbook does include language about head coverings that allow staff to see students' faces and ears. However, this is intended to accommodate students whose religious beliefs necessitate head coverings, and it does not permit the wearing of hoods in a way that could obscure students’ identities.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy to ensure a safe learning environment for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best regards,
Principal Shelton
