Senior Set-Up and College Admissions Presentation
The Counseling Department went into the senior English classes to set students up for senior year. At this time, students were shown how to navigate the counseling website that is full of resources to help during senior year! Additionally, students were encouraged to join the Class of 2022 Band account. Each student set up their Parchment account, which is the electronic system to safely and securely send transcripts to the colleges after they have submitted their applications.
The Counseling Department hosted a College Admissions Presentation, given on two different occasions, to help students with the most frequently asked questions regarding how to apply for college. Topics included preparing for the future, college visits, GPA, test scores, continuing to take a strong curriculum during your senior year, extracurricular activities, application essays, letters of recommendation, transcripts, NCAA/NAIA eligibility, the Common Application, how to connect with admissions representatives, and much more!

The Counseling Department will be running the #Accepted program again this year. Seniors, as you start to get letters of acceptance from your post-secondary college, trade school, job or military, please bring your letter to the counseling office. Our first classroom visit with shirts and raffle drawing will be in October. Currently, we have 7.8% of our senior class of 2022 with an acceptance for post-graduation programs! Keep up the good work!!
We will have drawings in the months of October, November and December to award prizes to students who provide us with documentation of their achievements. At this time, we will also deliver the #Accepted t-shirts to students who have provided us with proof of their post-secondary plans!

FAFSA
The 2022-2023 FAFSA form will be available October 1, 2021. It is highly recommended that this gets filled out ASAP! Here is a resource to help students and parents understand everything there is to know about the FAFSA. The FAFSA is often required to qualify for different scholarships. A financial aid/FAFSA informational session will be held on October 26th at 6pm by financial aid experts at Oakland University. Students/parents do not have to be interested in Oakland to attend this free workshop. Reserve your spot here. This information was emailed to parents and seniors, and can be found in the Senior Class BAND.
Additionally, students who bring in proof that their FAFSA has been completed will be entered into the monthly drawings. We do not want any personal information - just showing us the congratulatory email on completing the FAFSA is enough!

Freshmen Interviews
Now that freshmen students have had a chance to familiarize themselves with the high school, counselors have begun calling them down to introduce themselves. It is important that freshmen know where the counseling office is located, as we are a great resource to help assist them throughout high school! At this time, we are getting to know students by inquiring about their interests and hobbies, extracurricular activities, and post-secondary plans. Please ask your students about these interactions!
Grade Level Meetings
Partnering with administration we held meetings for each grade level. We talked about information important to the upcoming school year. We discussed the opportunities at the high school, trying something new and making the most of your time at Armada.
Student of the Month
Congratulations to Avery Kryscynski and Ryan Springer for being selected as September’s Student of the Month. Avery was recognized for leadership qualities, hard work and persistence. Ryan was recognized for his ambition, leadership and for being an example to underclassmen.
