Wrapping Up Trimester 1
Dear Edinbrook Families,
As we wrap up Trimester 1, I want to take a moment to celebrate your students' incredible achievements! It's been wonderful to see their growth, enthusiasm for learning, and the positive energy they bring to our school community each day. Thank you for the support and encouragement you provide at home—it truly makes a difference.
To keep this momentum going, here are some quick tips to stay engaged with your student’s learning at home:
- Read together daily: Whether it’s you reading to them or them reading to you, it’s a great way to bond and build literacy skills.
- Check their planners and take-home folders: These often include important notes, assignments, and updates from teachers.
- Stay connected: Keep an eye on emails, messages from teachers, and updates from the school to stay informed about upcoming events and opportunities.
- Ask about their day: Show interest in what they’re learning and the friends they’re making—it goes a long way in building their confidence and excitement for school.
Together, let’s continue to support our students as they strive toward new goals in Trimester 2. Thank you for being such an integral part of the Edinbrook Elementary family!
Sincerely,
Aaron Krueger
Principal

Proposed Attendance Boundary Changes
Proposed attendance boundary change scenarios available to view; feedback opportunities include online form and info meetings
Elementary and middle school attendance boundaries are being changed in order to balance student enrollment across the district. These future adjustments, set to take effect in 2026, will reassign the Osseo Area Schools elementary and/or middle school that some households are zoned to attend.
Proposed scenarios available to view online: There are four proposed attendance boundary change scenarios being presented at this time. On each of the following information pages, you’ll find an overview of the proposed scenario, a map and a search tool. Community members can use the search tool to see how the proposed scenario would impact their household.
Community input is important: Please share your thoughts on the four proposed scenarios by filling out the online feedback form or participating in an upcoming community informational meeting.
The first Community Informational Meeting is being held on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 5:45 p.m. in the Brooklyn Middle STEAM School cafe
The second Community informational Meeting is being held Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5:45 p.m. in the Maple Grove Middle School cafe
Timeline: Please share your thoughts on the four proposed scenarios by Friday, Feb. 7. After that, all community feedback will be reviewed and adjustments to the proposed scenarios considered. Likely, our community will have another opportunity to provide input on some edited scenarios in March. The school board is expected to approve final attendance boundary changes by this May.
The new attendance boundaries will go into effect fall 2026 alongside the tentative opening of the new elementary school in the northwest region of our district.
Background: It’s common for communities to experience changing student enrollment. Our district’s Enrollment and Capacity Management Advisory Committee (ECMAC) has been monitoring these enrollment shifts in conjunction with our school building capacities for the last several years. Their most recent reports have detailed that a significant enrollment imbalance exists and that it should be addressed.
ECMAC’s work helped to form 2023’s Building a Better Future referendum. A new elementary school and additions to Maple Grove Senior High School were requested to address space constraints from continued growth. It was additionally noted that attendance boundary changes were needed no matter the outcome of the election. Thankfully, our community supported the 2023 referendum request so additional facility space will help to address growth needs, which limits attendance boundary changes to elementary and middle schools and impacts fewer families.
Stay tuned: Please continue to stay tuned for updates over the coming weeks and months. Detailed information will continue to be shared on the district website, district279.org/boundaries. Feel free to reach out if something additional needs to be addressed via BetterFuture@district279.org or 763-391-8990.

Update and Community Input on School-Based Health Center at PCSH
After further review, the school-based health center mentioned as part of Crest View’s repurposing is going to be placed at Park Center Senior High School instead. There are a variety of reasons for this change, including easier access for more scholars and their families and a more district-centralized location.
Why it matters: A school-based health center is a great way for our schools to help with day-to-day needs of our scholars so that the focus can be on classroom learning.
Your feedback is needed to ensure that the services offered are the most fitting for our district community today and in the years ahead. Please take two minutes to share what you and your family would be most interested in utilizing the clinic for via this anonymous Google Form.
Partnership is making this possible: Our school district was awarded a grant to plan from the Minnesota Department of Health. These dollars will cover start up costs and exploration of the scope of services.
What is expected in the months ahead: The thoughts you share in the Google Form will help our district health team and community partner, Park Nicollet/Health Partners, with next steps. Expect to see the clinic up and running, ready to serve any community member in the Osseo Area Schools attendance area, by fall 2026. Stay tuned to district279.org for the latest on the process.
WINTER IS HERE!!!!
To ensure your student stays warm and comfortable during recess this winter, please make sure they have the following items every day:
- Winter Coat
- Snow Pants
- Hat
- Gloves or Mittens (Waterproof ones are best!)
- Scarf or Neck Warmer
- Winter Boots
- Warm Socks (Consider wool or thermal socks for extra warmth.)
Important Reminder:
We will be going outside for recess as long as the "real feel" temperature is above 0°F. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather!
Pro Tip: Label all winter gear with your child’s name. This makes it much easier to return lost items to their rightful owner.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS FORM
IF YOU HAVEN'T PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM!
Families are strongly encouraged to complete the Educational Benefits form. Families who qualify may access free or reduced prices for iPad and Chromebook repair and replacement, band/orchestra instruments (5th grade), home electricity bills through Excel Energy, and home internet from some providers, and other benefits.
In addition, schools receives additional funding based on the number of students who qualify for Educational Benefits. Edinbrook receives a significant amount of money that is used to hire additional teachers and ESPs to support students. Filling out this form will help to ensure Edinbrook can continue to provide that additional support to students, while keeping lower class sizes.
MEAL COST AND ACCOUNT INFORMATION
One breakfast and one lunch per day are free for all students in Minnesota.
If students bring a lunch from home and wish to have school milk, they must purchase one for 50 cents using their SmartSchoolK12 lunch account. Once you’ve created this account, you can log in and add money to your child’s meal account. Balances are shared by all students in a household.
