Industry Challenge Winners
The Industry Challenge with Trenton Technology has finally come to a close. Our partners came to P-TECH to visit and announce the winners. After viewing the presentations last month, a team of engineers and production workers at Trenton Technology reviewed and tested the submitted designs. The winning team consists of Bea Stayton, Eric Creekmore and Peter Maier. They also decided to incorporate designs from two other teams. These teams were made up of Liam Mahardy, Chelsy Plows, Joel Lynch, Arina Samoshuk, Gavyn Toepp and Cailyn Armstrong.
The winning students each received a $100 award for the design and hard work. Each member of the teams from which the engineers took input received a $25 gift card as well. Congratulations to all, and thank you to Trenton Technology for partnering with our students!
Completion Ceremony and Signing Day
P-TECH OHM held its annual Completion Ceremony to celebrate the seniors' completion of their high school graduation requirements. Many students also received awards in addition to the recognition of completing the high school portion of the program. These awards recognized Outstanding Academic Achievement, P-TECH PRIDE, Career and Technical Achievement, Internship Performance and Perseverance, among others.
After the ceremony, multiple P-TECH alums announced their plans for the next steps in their education. Each student took photos with their families and friends. Please click the link below to read the article and see photos on the OHM BOCES website.

End of Year Field Trip
P-TECH students capped off the year with a relaxing and fun day at Peterpaul Recreation Park. Students were able to ride go-karts and bumper boats, play laser tag and arcade games, and hit balls in the batting cages. They had lunch and enjoyed each other's company before the summer break.
Thank you to Peterpaul Recreation Park for hosting us! Click the link below to visit their Facebook page.
Algebra Field Trip
P-TECH algebra classes visited Whitesboro Fit Body Boot Camp to complete a boot camp session with Lisa Briggs. Mrs. Colantuoni scheduled this to take place immediately following the algebra Regents Examination because the students were sitting for at least two hours while taking the test. In addition to completing the workout, they discussed the importance and benefits of daily exercise.
ELA 11 Capstone Projects
As their final project, Mrs. Giruzzi's 11th grade ELA students worked diligently to identify and solve an issue within the P-TECH program. Four groups of students presented their ideas to improve the school community. They discussed topics such as an announcement board, a courtyard space for students and potential PRIDE Day improvements. They presented their plans, discussed the potential budgets and talked about how they would maintain the improvements moving forward. After each presentation, students fielded questions from their classmates, teachers, and administrators. All of the presentations were impressive!
Geometry Tin-Person Project
Mrs. Colantuoni's geometry students ended their year by creating tin-person projects for their modeling and measurement unit. They used various household items to construct their figures. However, there were a few stipulations. Each had to contain at least one sphere, one cone, one rectangular prism and one cylinder. They had a limited amount of foil to work with, and the figures were required to stand on their own. They calculated the volume of each piece and then the total volume of the figure. Mrs. Colantuoni awarded prizes for the tallest, widest, lowest volume, largest volume, lightest weight, as well as a people's choice award.
