MARCH / APRIL MADNESS UPDATE - CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK
22 total teams are in the tournament. The goal is for each team to play 3 round robin games that lead into a single elimination tournament (weather may limit the round robin games). All games take place at lunch time.

NOHL CANYON ANNOUNCEMENTS
Coffee with the Counselor - Parents invited
To increase school community connectedness, Nohl Canyon will begin hosting monthly morning meetings with our Counselor - Mrs. Pullin, and Principal - Mr. Jones. Each monthly meeting will incorporate a theme to support our families.
All meetings will take place from 8:30am - 9:30am in the TLC
APRIL 12th - Meet our Counselor! Mrs. Pullin will speak on her role, expectations, and the daily life of a school counselor.
MAY 10th - May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Conversation will incorporate strategies in supporting Mental Health Awareness.

- Setup shift is 1-3:30 pm; event shift 4 to 7 pm; Breakdown shift is 7 to 8 pm.
- Last day for in-person Pre-sale Ticket Packages is Monday, 4/10 after school dismissal. Please bring check or cash to complete purchase.
- On-line sale for Ticket Packages will end Monday 4/10 at midnight for delivery of envelopes in the Classroom Wednesday folder on 4/12. Purchase on CheddarUp here, https://carnival-tickets-2023.cheddarup.com.
- Tickets on the day of the Carnival can be purchased for $1 each. This can be used to play booth games, ride attractions, and purchase food items from the Concession booth (not valid with food vendors) and the Candy shop.

CAASPP (SBAC Assessment): May 8th - 26th
May 8th - 26th, 8:00 am - 10:00 am (testing time)
CAASPP - The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career.
- CAASPP incorporates the Smarter Balanced Assessment Conscortium (SBAC), a standardized test consortium
- Students in 3rd - 8th grade, and 11th grade will take part in the SBAC.
- Students will be assessed in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. 5th grade students will also take the California Science Test
**** Please plan vacations and medical appointments around these dates (specifically 8-10 am each day)
Important reminders:
- Students should have a good night's sleep
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Bring their own earbuds/headphones (if they have them). School will supply to those who do not have their own.
- NO personal tech devices allowed during testing (this includes Smart Watches, Smart Phones..)
CARES - Summer Information
Summer camp registration begins April 17th @9am sharp! Spots will fill up quickly, so if you need CARES, jump on it!
Location is at Nohl Canyon!

Cell Phone Use - "NO CELL, BELL to BELL"
1) NO CELL from BELL to BELL - cell phones need to be turned OFF and stored in students backpack from first bell to dismissal bell.
2) Students who need to contact parents/guardians are expected to come to the front office to make the phone call.
3) Students who do not follow the guidelines:
1st occurrence: warning - expected to place phone back in backpack
2nd occurrence: cell phone confiscated - Parent Pick-up in office
