Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 9 | 12 June 2024
Dear Parents and Carers
Uniform
We have been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic uptake of our new school uniform. Our suppliers Nell Grey were overwhelmed by how many families decided to purchase the new uniform and they quickly ran out of stock. Nell Grey have confirmed that they are receiving a large shipment of stock next week on the 20th of June. It will take a few days to get the stock into the shop. If you have pre-ordered, you will receive a message as soon as your uniform order is ready for collection. There should be enough surplus stock available for purchase in the school holidays if you have not yet ordered the new uniform.
While we understand that in the interim there may be some mismatch of uniform items, there are still aspects of the uniform that we have noticed are not being complied with:
- Hair - needs to be neatly tied back if long, original hair colour and simple hair decorations like plain clips or hair ribbons with colours in keeping with the school uniform of blue or white.
- Socks – plain white ankle socks with no insignia for example the Nike tick
- Shoes – black or white trainers/sneakers
From the start of Term 3, if we notice anyone wearing uniform items that are out of line with the above requirements, we will be sending uniform transgression notices via Seesaw. We ask all parents to please assist us in helping children wear our uniform with pride.
Concerns or Complaints Procedure
A reminder to all parents that if you have a concern, the best person to speak to in the first instance is your child’s classroom teacher. They have the knowledge of your children and can assist with your concern. We are receiving calls to leadership from parents with concerns which could have been resolved by having a conversation with the teacher.
P&F
On Monday evening we held our second P&F meeting for Term 2. We have an enthusiastic group of parents/carers who are incredibly committed to our school community, and I would like to personally acknowledge and thank them for the time they set aside to attend our P&F meetings each term and for the fund and friend raising activities that they are planning. Two such events that we are asking our school community to support are:
- the Entertainment book which costs $70 per book. For every book sold, $14 is paid back to the P&F. Funds raised by the P&F gets spent on resources for our school which benefit your children. Please support this initiative, details are further on in the newsletter
- please save the following date for our P&F quiz night on Saturday 9 November 2024
We ask that our community keep the Year 3 children in your prayers as some of them start to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Penance. Their first commitment is attending the Enrolment Mass on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of June.
God bless you all,
Ondine Komnick
