As we work towards getting to know each other throughout Spring, Summer, and certainly to start the school year, I wanted to share a little about my family! My wife, Samantha and I have enjoyed living in Worthington for 10 years now, living in Dublin before that. Our kids, Olsen (7) and Leona (5), keep us plenty busy. Olsen is a beach bum, second grader, and his favorite thing is to play the sport of WHATEVER season he's in... and he's always in a season! Leona will be starting Kindergarten next year, and loves being an artist, gymnast, and pretty much all things Taylor Swift. She's just discovered wireless headphones and dancing around the house! Olsen and Leona have VERY different personalities and we are having so much fun growing with them. Samantha is currently the Implementation and Support Manager at Cyanna Education Services, and has spent her career in higher education admissions. My family and I are honored to be a part of this new school process and we look forward to the collective journey ahead!

Over the next few months, i'll continue to send key information and reminders to you through this newsletter. As you can see in the pictures below, Bishop is moving right along! During the month of January, we were able to hire all Certified teaching staff, with them all being current Dublin educators. We are really excited to start to come together as a staff and have already been sharing ideas and planning to create a welcoming and supportive school climate! Combine that with collaboration from Dr. Robinson (Deer Run) and Dr. Kurty (Glacier Ridge), we'll make for a positive transition! Similar to our mindset leading up to, and throughout the school year, we'll focus on consistently making small, slow, and daily progress, leading to large, positive shifts!

In a time when it feels like your email inbox is always full, I recognize that you'll now be receiving newsletters from multiple elementary schools, so I plan to be mindful of that, and will not send communication nearly as frequently as your current school! Future newsletters will include additional surveys about the Bishop mascot, seeking input on student placement for next school year and involvement in establishing our PTO.

Welcome future families, staff, and contributors to Deane Brown Bishop Elementary School! It's been an exciting start to the year, considering everything it takes to prepare a new building for you and your families! One major component is selecting our MASCOT and SCHOOL COLORS! We value your input and will rely on our Bishop community to support this process!

Please take this short survey to offer your opinions on what you want the secondary color and mascot of DBES to be. We are looking for opinions from everyone in our community and we encourage you to consult with your learner about this survey!

PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR INPUT BY THE END OF THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 12TH! WE WILL COMPILE THE INFORMATION, AND SEND OUT A FINAL SURVEY WITH THE TOP NAMES FOR ANOTHER VOTE!

After we identify the mascot, we'll work with Tandem Design Group to develop a few logos that you'll also get a vote on in a final survey. We will unveil this all later this Spring.

Our initials within the district will be (DBES) and will be referred to as "Bishop Elementary" for short.

On Wednesday April 23rd, we will host all families available in the Dublin Jerome PAC. While we would like to host families at Bishop, it will not be available and we want to start getting to know our families and share key information!

5:30-6:30 will be for all new families. At 6:30, we'll ask that our KG families remain for more specific KG information. This evening will prefer adults only at this time.
