Grade 6 Guest Artist
Dominique Vassie is a biologist and artist from the UK currently working in Japan. Recently, a small group of Conor Emerson's students have been obsessed with her books in Conor's classroom - replicating and learning from her style, or using them as inspiration for their own short stories.
Since Conor is friend's with Dominique, he mentioned the student's interest and she was kind enough to chat with the students about being a professional artist, her techniques, and any animal questions they may have!
Conor said it was an incredibly sweet way to spend recess with a small group of dedicated artists meeting someone they look up to.
School Library News
It's time for the annual Great CCS Library Book Scavenger Hunt! All library books are now due, and Mrs. Huestis will be sending email reminders to caregivers next week for any materials that need to be found. Remember to check all the spots library books love to hide. Cars, backpacks, closets, bookshelves, and behind & underneath furniture are all great places to look. There are no fees or fines ever, just send a note to hhuestis@cvsdvt.org if you are unable to locate something!

Be Gun-Safe This Summer
Whether you’re spending time at home or are traveling, secure any firearms in your home and ask how guns are stored in homes you’re visiting. Unintentional shootings are far more likely to occur when children and teens are home from school, including during summer vacation.
Need help securing your firearm? Free cable gun locks are available throughout the community, including from your school counselor. Find more resources at besmartforkids.org
