Forest Park Families,
Map Testing: This week, students will take the MAP assessment in Reading and Math. Students will take this assessment two more times this school year. Each house team should be sending out more specifics regarding your students MAP testing schedule. If you have any questions, please reach out to your students' house teachers. Your student will have an opportunity to set MAP goals and track their progress over the school year. Ask your student about their goals and the ways they reach their goals this year.
Daily Agendas: If you are seeking more information regarding the day to day classroom learning, please check out the daily agendas. Daily Agendas can be found on students' Google Classrooms and linked to the signature line of staff member’s emails.
Cell phone Update: From our AP’s Mr. Brandes and Mr. Karolewicz
As we start the new year, we are using our morning announcements to share our expectations around cell phone use in our building. We have communicated to students that phones can be used during lunch and when directed by a teacher in the classroom. All other phone use is prohibited throughout the school day, including passing periods.
While phones allow us instant access to our friends and family members, in the school environment, they unfortunately can also be a vehicle for distractions, inappropriate communication, peer conflict, bullying, harassment and activities that make our school less safe and welcoming for our students. Please know that we will continue to expect students to adhere to these expectations throughout the year. We will also prioritize the instruction of appropriate behavior as it relates to technology. In addition, we will also instruct students to learn self-regulation skills that can transfer to a number of life situations. We believe that our expectations around phones as well as our instruction around regulation skills will make Forest Park Middle School a safer and more welcoming place for our students. Creating and maintaining safe and welcoming places for our students is our ultimate priority. We ask for your support and partnership in sharing this message with your students. We also want you to understand the purpose for these expectations. We thank you for your efforts and support.

The recent Summer District Newsletter here has lots of information and updates to review including results from the spring Community Survey, the adjusted scope of the $145M referendum, project focus, October community sharing sessions and tours at FHS, financial information including tax impact, voting information and a phasing video of the projects planned for FHS if the referendum passes.
All of this information is housed on our Franklin Forward website here. Thank you for being informed and please plan to vote on November 5th!
UPCOMING FHS VISIT OPPORTUNITIES
As we move toward the November 5th referendum vote, we are offering the opportunities below to visit Franklin High School to see the spaces of need.
In addition, we are offering the following COMMUNITY INFORMATION SESSIONS in October where you can hear from district leaders about the path to the referendum and also tour FHS following the presentation.
Can't make one of the dates above? Check out our "virtual tour" of the FHS spaces by clicking on the map below! Short videos are clickable at each location right from your phone and will better explain the areas we hope to address through the referendum.
