Monk Fryston Newsletter 15.3.24
The school target for next week is;
FREE Sleep Workshop 9th April at 6pm
Do you worry that your child is not getting enough sleep? Is bedtime an emotional , stressful time in your house? Is family sleep disrupted because your child wakes in the night and is unable to get back to sleep without you? Does your child wake before 6am ready to start the day?
If you answer yes to any of these questions then you may find attending a sleep awareness session useful. The session will cover basic information about the sleep process and how you can support your child's sleep. The session is on Tuesday 9th April 6pm to 7pm at Monk Fryston School. If you are interested please complete the form below by Friday 5th April 2024.
If you are unable to attend but would like information about your child's sleep, please still complete the form.
Reading at home.
We are delighted that so many children are reading their books at home to an adult or family member. It is important to remember that the books that children bring home should be easy for them to read, as they are intended to help them practise reading fluency (100% of the words in their book should be decodable and they should read 90% successfully).
Big Walk & Wheel - Please join in if you can.
Thank you for encouraging your child to take part in the Big Walk and Wheel this week. We are doing really well, with over half of our children (59%) coming to school on foot or wheels this week. We are currently 24th in the North of England. Please keep it up next week, as the Eco Warriors will be continuing to count journeys each day.
Easter Service Monday 18th March
The Easter service will take place in church on Monday at 9.30am. Everyone is welcome, although please note that with all classes being present there will be limited seating room.

The Easter lunch will take place next Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to come along. We will serve as quickly as we can, but please be patient as it is likely that there will be a queue in the lunch hall.
Open Classrooms Tuesday 19th March
It is Open Classrooms after school next Tuesday. Please do come along and see the work your child has produced this term.
Class Photographs Tuesday 19th March

Don’t forget that we break up for Easter next Thursday (there is no school on Friday as this is a training day).
Thank you Mr Andre.

PTA 100 Club
Free school meals for all years for pupils whose families receive financial support.
If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child could also qualify for free school meals during all school years. To qualify you must be receiving:
Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month)
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guarantee element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC)
Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Please note that contributions-based benefits, including contribution-related Jobseekers' Allowance do not entitle you to claim free school meals.
You will receive an instant decision on whether your application is successful. If it is, we will fully process the application in 5 working days and notify the school. Once the school has received this your child can begin enjoying free school meals. You should continue to pay until confirmation comes through. Schools may be able to arrange reimbursement of payment made while your entitlement is being confirmed.
Free school meals claims cannot be backdated. They are awarded from the date we receive the application, once eligibility is confirmed. This is because there is a legal requirement for a request to be made, before a free school meal can be provided. If you are not entitled to free school meals, you will be notified in writing.
