HVCHS Alumni Support Students
On Friday, January 10th, more than 25 alumni came back to their HVCHS alma mater to visit with current students. The Alumni Day event took place in the media center during recitation, session three and lunch. Numerous students benefited from speaking with these graduates who shared knowledge and wisdom from their life experiences after high school including college, work, majors, and more. There was a lot of Bulldog pride and camaraderie on display as students interacted with alumni and as our older Bulldogs were able to reconnect with old friends, staff, and teachers! We sincerely appreciate the alumni who participated and the staff who worked to make this great event a success for our students. Thank you!

Attention: Students Who Have Earned the Seal of Biliteracy
If you are a Senior who has earned the Seal of Biliteracy, you can request a report for colleges to see if you can receive college credit. This report has an associated cost of $20. Here is the link with further details.
Alternatively, students can inquire if a post-secondary institution accepts the Seal of Biliteracy for credit if they send their score report. Students received a copy of this report when when they were notified of their eligibility for the Seal of Biliteracy.

New Graduation Requirement for the Class of 2025: Financial Aid Application
The state of New Jersey has mandated a new graduation requirement for all students who are on track to graduate in June, 2025. According to this mandate, all 12th grade students and/or their parents/guardians are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid application, or indicate that they refuse to complete one or more of these applications.
We need all parents/guardians of 12th grade students or students who are 18 years or older, to complete this form. Only if you indicate that you DO NOT intend to complete a financial aid application, you must complete, sign and return this document to the school counseling office by the end of February. Paper copies are available in the counseling office.
Living With Teens and Social Media, Thurs. Jan 16th at 8 pm
Teens have always pushed the boundaries of what their parents find acceptable or safe. (We know because we were once in high school ourselves!) Risky behavior is developmentally appropriate for teenagers, but worrying about it keeps us awake at night. What are our teens doing? How can we protect them, and how do we handle the mistakes they will inevitably make? Rather than sex, drugs, and rock and roll, today's families often stress over what they can't see so easily: tech and social media use. And it's complicated by the fact that there are no magic wand solutions to guarantee safety and balanced use.
Moderated by: Sue Thotz, Director of Outreach, Common Sense Media
Featured Speakers: Dr. Lisa Damour, psychologist and best-selling author and Christopher Pepper, health educator and author.
This is most relevant for parents with kids currently on social media or soon to be using those platforms, but all are welcome. More information can be found on this flyer.
