Principal's Message
Hi Families!
Welcome to week four! We are starting Tiger Time this week, and I want to tell you more about it.
Tiger Time is a 30 minute block of time following second period, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The time is designed to provide time during the instructional day for students to see their teachers to get help with content, make up missed assessments, and get assistance when they have not yet met the learning intentions set each day. In addition, students who have all C's or better will be awarded FLEX status, and be allowed to choose a FLEX space (gym, Lair, or library) to socialize, work on assignments with friends, listen to music, and be allowed to use their phones in these areas. Students with failing grades or who are in danger of failing (any D's or F's) will be awarded FOCUSED status, and will either stay in 2nd period for a quiet study hall, or be requested by a teacher for intervention. Statuses will be reassigned every 3 weeks, affording students an opportunity to gain FLEX privileges when their grades warrant it, or be moved to FOCUSED if grades slip. Grades matter; graduation requires students to pass all their classes and we intend to help our students there!Have a beautiful week!

Service Academy Open House
Dear Friends,
It’s Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.
Next week, I’m holding a Service Academy Open House – and you’re invited! Students and their families will be able to learn about pursuing a career in our nation’s Armed Forces and meet with representatives from the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies.
High school juniors or anyone 17-22 years of age residing in Washington’s Third District, can now apply for a service academy nomination through my website. This open house is an opportunity to learn about the different academies and what makes a strong candidate.

One of the most important responsibilities I have as a Member of Congress is nominating talented young people from across Southwest Washington to our nation’s service academies. Earlier this year, I selected some truly outstanding students who are now attending an academy.
If you or someone you know is a young person interested in serving our country, you can learn more about the eligibility requirements and application process on my website. Applications are due by November 12, 2024.

District News
Bus routes posted and FirstView mobile app
Bus routes are now available online. For questions about school district bus service, call your school or First Student at 360-841-7099, ext. 103 or 104. Please be aware that the first several weeks of school can often see changes to routes as First Student makes adjustments. Any changes impacting riders will be communicated by your child’s school.
Due to road construction in many areas of the district, some buses may need to take a detour and/or may be delayed. For the most up-to-date route information, late alerts, notifications when your student is close to home, etc., we strongly recommend installing the FirstView mobile app, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. PLEASE NOTE: The district code has changed this year. To use the app, enter the four-digit code LMWV. Get instructions for installing the app.
