Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week
Last week our school joined Alberta schools in observing Bullying Awareness and Prevention week.
The week's focus was on empathy. Empathy is defined as the ability to sense other people's emotions, coupled with the ability to imagine what someone else might be thinking or feeling. God has given us the ability to empathize with those around us; however, it often takes work on our part to practice empathy. We also discussed the importance of standing up for others when we see mistreatment, harassment or bullying occur in our community. We explored these ideas through classroom devotions, the Sr. High FIRST and Saffron's classroom presentations about Healthy Relationships (Bible 7), Internet Safety (Bible 8 and 9) and Sexual Harassment (Sr. High CALM).
Parents also attended the evening parent session, Cyberworld: What Happens when Youth Press Send? (Saffron Centre). If you have any questions about Bullying Awareness and Prevention week, reach out to Mrs. Matheson.
Remand Centre Bookmarks
SCS is partnering again with the Edmonton Remand Centre to provide 1800 inmates with Christmas gift bags, which include chocolates, pens, journals, Bibles, and bookmarks.
Students will help by colouring the bookmarks and writing an encouraging note/verse on the back. See your Block 1 or 2 teacher for the bookmarks and more information about this ministry.

BAND
Stawnichy's Mundare Sausage Fundraiser
Greetings! We are excited to announce the kickoff to our Stawnichy's Mundare Sausage fundraiser. All proceeds from this fundraiser are going to support your SCA band program's benevolent fund, so every item sold will help out.
Please take a minute to review the Stawnichy’s Mundare Sausage Order Form to familiarize yourself with the different products available. Every fundraiser item is being sold for $10 each, which is cheaper than you can buy at any of the local grocery stores. With the holiday entertaining season approaching, it should be fairly easy to sell these items at such a good deal.
Once you have completed your Student Order Form (#3 form in the email sent out to band parents) and have collected all payments, please place both the form and either a cheque or e-transfer notice in an envelope labelled with the student's name, grade and 'SCA Band Fundraiser' on the front. All money and Student Order Forms must be turned in to Mr. Lietz or the SCA Secondary Front Office by no later than 3:20 pm on ***Tuesday, November 21, 2023***.
If you are unable to make this deadline, please contact Paul Ducharme at scabandprogram@gmail.com or by calling him at (587) 589-7564.
Delivery date for the food items to the school is tentatively set for Thursday, December 14th - just in time for the Christmas/Festive Season. On this date, you will be required to pick up and take home your sale items so that you can then distribute them to your customers.
If anyone has any nutritional questions about the fundraiser items, please consult the Stawnichy’s ordering page: https://www.stawnichys.com/products/#pane-product-box-10759
Any other questions can be directed to Mr. Lietz at mark.lietz@eips.ca.
Thanks in advance for your help with this wonderful fundraiser for such a worthy cause. God Bless.
