Molnar's Community Update
August 30, 2024
Comet Nation,
WKYC FRIDAY FOOTBALL FEVER
We are excited to share that WKYC will be hosting their Friday Football Fever feature ONE WEEK FROM TODAY at our very own Mercy Health Stadium. The feature will kick off our Homecoming festivities and will feature our football program, Steele Cheerleaders, Amherst Marching Comets, and more.
We invite all students, parents, community members, and staff to help us fill the stands NEXT FRIDAY. The feature will be a part of their morning show, running from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. We know it is an early start, but hope this cool opportunity will inspire some early risers to come and join us. Let's show viewers who Comet Nation is!
To our neighbors around the field, please be aware that the stadium lights will be on for this feature, and the band will be playing. In our effort to be a good neighbor to those surrounding the stadium, we felt we needed to give notice. We thank you for your understanding, and continued support of our Comet Athletic Program!
2024 GALLERY OF SUCCESS
The Gallery of Success recognizes Amherst Schools Alumni whose exceptional achievements have added to the eminent reputation of the Amherst Exempted Village School District. Community members submitted their Gallery of Success nominations to the Amherst Schools and the Marion L. Steele Student Council. The only requirement for nomination and induction into the Gallery of Success is to have graduated from the Amherst School District. The inductees were selected solely on merit by a committee of MLS Student Council members.
Please join us in congratulating the following 2024 Gallery of Success Inductees:
- Chief Jim Wilhelm, Class of 1970 (47 years of Service with the Amherst Fire Department and a local historian).
- Dr. Joseph Von Kaenel, Class of 1979 (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs)
- Richard Ferguson, Class of 1979 (Retired Supervisory Information Technology Specialist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation)
- Marcia (Mann) Miller, Class of 1980 (Retired Chief Investment Officer of Oberlin College & Philanthropist)
Each of the above inductees will be inducted into the Gallery of Success Next Friday, September 27, 2024, at Marion L. Steele High School as a part of our Homecoming Festivities.
HOMECOMING PARADE AND FOOTBALL GAME
We hope that you will plan to join us for our annual Homecoming Parade and Football Game. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature our fall athletes, clubs, class floats, Homecoming Court, and more. Please see the route below. The parade is always a great way to kick off our Homecoming Festivities, so we hope that you will come join in on the fun. Please note that the parade will only be canceled if there is lightning and thunder.
The Homecoming program will begin at 6:30 p.m. in our Mercy Health Stadium, where we will introduce our Homecoming Court and name our 2024 Homecoming King and Queen. The game will follow at 7:00 p.m. Come cheer on our Comets as they take on Avon Lake!
REMINDER: HOMECOMING DANCE FOR STUDENTS
The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. in the main gym. I hope that our Comets have a safe, fun, and memorable night!
