β The Importance of School Attendance: A Shared Responsibility
We understand that there are times when absences are unavoidable due to illness or family emergencies. However, we encourage you to prioritize your child's attendance and work with us to minimize any disruptions to their education. In an effort to ensure consistency across all elementary sites in the Stevens Point Area Public School District, please be aware of the following expectations regarding how attendance is documented for all K-6 students:
Any absence that extends beyond thirty minutes at the beginning or the end of the day will be counted as a half day absence. Any time less than thirty minutes will be documented as tardy.
If your child/children are absent for more than five days, you will be notified with an auto-generated letter from their school.
A similar letter will follow if absences exceed ten days. At this point you may be asked to provide a physicianβs note for all future absences.
If your child is experiencing challenges that affect their attendance, please reach out to our school staff. We are here to support you and provide resources to help ensure your child can attend school regularly.
Thank you for your commitment to your child's education and for partnering with us to ensure their academic success. Together, we can make a positive impact on their future.
π Family Address Changes
Parents/guardians should confirm via Skyward Family Access if their address is up-to-date for the new school year. All address changes are processed through the district office, and require proof of address, such as a copy of a utility bill, driverβs license, rental/purchase document, etc. If you have any questions, please call the main office at 715-345-5418.

π¦· Seal a Smile
Our district has returned to working with the Seal a Smile program! Seal a Smile is a program we previously participated in for school-based dental services. We will no longer be partnering with Bridging Brighter Smiles. Seal a Smile will be provided to us from Noble Community Clinics, formerly known as Family Health La Clinica. Noble will provide services at no cost to our students and their families regardless of insurance status, Medicaid, or ability to pay. The dental program will continue to include preventative dental services such oral exams, prophy (cleanings), sealant delivery, fluoride varnish placement, dental referrals, and oral hygiene instruction.

π΅ π΄ Do You Love Children and Enjoy Helping in a School Setting?
The Portage County Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) has openings for volunteers to help in local schools for the 2024-2025 school year!
FGP is ideal for people who enjoy children, have some extra time, and could use a tax-free stipend each month. Under the supervision of a teacher, each Foster Grandparent spends 7.5 - 20 hours per week assisting children, one-on-one and in small groups, who need extra help in areas such as school readiness, reading, social skills or mentoring. On-going training is provided, and no previous teaching experience is needed. Candidates for the program must be age 55+ and meet income eligibility requirements ($2,510/month for a one person household or $3,407/month for a two-person household. Individuals with somewhat higher incomes may still qualify if they have higher medical expenses.). The stipend Foster Grandparents receive does not impact any other aid or benefits they might already be receiving, such as subsidized housing or medical assistance. They also receive travel assistance, meals at the school, and many other benefits.
For more information, contact the FGP Coordinator at the Aging & Disability Resource Center, 715-346-1401.
