St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 3 | 1 AUGUST 2024
Good afternoon parents and caregivers,
This week we welcomed the BIG RED ST ELIZABETH’S ADVENTURE BUS to the main playground. To say this caused a frenzy of excitement would be an understatement! Thank you to our very hard-working P&F Committee for providing our students with a fabulous piece of play equipment! Thank you to Anton Schippers for donating his time and expertise towards the project!
A reminder that students should be in class ready to learn by 8:30am. Each class are beginning the day with a ‘Morning Circle’ activity that allows students to settle and prepare themselves for the day. Additionally, some specialist teachers start their lessons from 8:30am and students arriving late are missing important parts of the lessons. If you are running late, please make sure students sign in at the office and head straight to class. Please do not enter the classrooms after 8:30am as this can be a disruption to the beginning of the day routines.
Congratulations to Mrs Clarkson, our Year Two students and our beautiful choir who participated in the CEWA Performing Arts Festival, ‘Spirit of the Arts’, on Tuesday at Mercy College. The students showcased their wonderful dancing skills in the Christian Dance section of the festival and received great feedback.
Saturday night is the P&F Quiz Night. I wish the team all the best for a successful and fabulous night of quizzing! Good luck to those that are attending!
Have a wonderful weekend.
God bless
Rebecca Clarke

Activating the Social Worker at St Elizabeths
For those that I haven't met yet, my name is Chloe and I am the Social Worker employed by St Elizabeth's to provide support to our beautiful school community. I am typically at school on Mondays and Tuesdays, and often accompanied by my long hairy sidekick - Freddie the Therapy Dog!
During my time at St Elizabeth's I have been challenged on how best to meet the needs of the whole school community. It's a big responsibility and one I take very seriously.
For the remainder of 2024, I would like to trial a new process that hopefully allows me to connect with more students, but also offer more preventative support to small groups of students with similar needs, and classrooms where themes impact the whole group.
Over the coming weeks, I will promote small groups where you may want to register your child's interest. These groups will be coordinated with relevant teaching staff to ensure minimal impact on learning. Groups would typically meet for 4-6 weeks, though this may be extended based on need.
For example:
Friendship Ninjas - kids who are struggling with friendship issues and would benefit from supportive peers and guided problem-solving.
Worry Warriors - kids who experience varying levels of anxiety that get in the way of them participating or enjoying different activities.
Freddie's Fan Club - kids who need additional support with emotional regulation strategies
Busy Brains - kids who are neurodivergent and would benefit from peer support and neuro affirming guidance.
I will continue to offer 1:1 support for children and families who are going through challenging times. As parents you can still refer your child directly to me by contacting me by email or phone on my usual school days. I welcome parents making appointments if they wish to see me for support. I also encourage you to talk with your child's teacher, as often this is likely to be impacting your child in the classroom as well. Children will typically receive a maximum of 4 sessions per referral, and if further intervention is required and out of my scope, I will assist by providing connection to supports outside of school.
Please be assured, that this does not mean I will not be responsive to crises as they occur for our students - the only limitation to this is my available working days at the school.
Thank you for embracing this and I look forward to your feedback as we give it a go!
