Chorus "Just Desserts" Concerts
Recently, our 6th and 7th grade choruses performed for their parents. Both were spectacular. We had many soloists and group performers. Lots of fun was had, as was the tasting of desserts. This now annual tradition is really growing into a special event. Can't wait for next year.
Below is a link to the performance recording as well as the Winter Concert performance.

School to School Partnership
About 19 of our students visited JL Simpson Middle School this week that was part of our English Language (EL) program where we have partnered with JLSMS to share experiences and resources with each other. This exchange program was the brainchild of Harmony MS assistant principal, Ms. Kristen Hepner, and the Simpson MS assistant principal (and Harmony parent), Ms. Sarah McIntosh.
For this experience, students visited Simpson's "Amazon Think Big Space." You will see below some of the amazing resources this facility has. The kids had an amazing time expanding their academics and also meeting new kids from other schools. Some of the activities included, Virtual Reality, z Space, Robotics, games, pizza, and more.
In the fall students met at Douglass School to meet and do team building activities.
8th Grade Guitar
On Tuesday, Feb. 25th the 8th grade guitar ensemble traveled to Blue Ridge Middle School to hold a pre-LCPS District Assessment event in conjuncture with BRMS. They performed for a panel of guitar educators to receive feedback and critique on their preparations for their upcoming state assessment.
They received workshops and ensemble coaching (both in the full ensemble and sectional settings) from some of the most celebrated guitar educators in northern VA, including Glen McCarthy, John Graham, and the one, the only Jan Edmonson (retired Harmony teacher)!!

Interims Already
Parents,
Hard to believe but we are at the interim mark of the 3rd quarter. Please make sure you are checking your child's grades with them to ensure they are completing all assignments.
Contact the teacher immediately through their email with questions to start that conversation. Don't wait until the end.
Thank you, Mr. Morrison and Mr. Schaefer!
Thank you PARENTS,
Mr. Morrison, dad of 7th grader, Molly, and husband of 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Morrison, presented to Block 7 English classes, sharing about his experiences with natural disaster rescue.
Mr. Damon Schaefer (Talula's father) presented on his extensive experience as a former Tier 1 Special Operations Operative and also helped in the NC disaster, Afghan recovery, and more. Kind of like a real-life Captain America. He is also well versed in ham radio and emergency operations.

Staff Recognition
"Good morning Mrs. Welge,
I wanted to share that (our son) has thoroughly enjoyed your science class this year. This morning as I was driving him in, we were discussing future career options. He surprised me by expressing more interest in science than he has in the past for math. He said, “I’m kind of starting to lose interest in math and really enjoy Science this year, maybe I’ll do something Science related." attributing his enthusiasm directly to you.
So, thank you for making science engaging for him as well as your patience. I know he asks a lot of questions and thrives off of reassurance. It’s very much appreciated."
