The Viking Culture this year is to "Win the Day". We challenge all students and staff to pick 1 goal each day to accomplish. When you have succeeded with that 1 goal, you have "Won the Day!"

Here are a few ways to "Win the Day"

• "Flip the Script" on struggles/challenges and make them successes!
• Follow "Kaizen" - strive for continuous improvement each day!
• "Be Kind" - smile, say hello, look out for your fellow vikings! Remember - everyone is going through a battle we may not know.. Be Kind Always!

Congratulations to Band Director, Mr. Gearhart for being chosen as Cerro Villa's 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year! Mr. Gearhart has been with Cerro Villa for the last 8 years and is a true advocate for the Music and Arts programs. Mr. Gearhart instructs Beginning/Advanced Band, Jazz Band, Beginning/Advanced Strings, and Orchestra.

The Certificated Teacher of the Year recipient is selected by Cerro Villa staff members through a voting process. Mr. Gearhart will now move forward as CV's selected candidate to the district Level. Congratulations Mr. Gearhart!

Congratulations to Ms. Megan Smith for being chosen as Cerro Villa's 2024-2025 Classified Employee of the Year! Ms. Smith has not only been part of CV since 2021, but also is a Cerro Villa alumni. Ms. Smith currently works as CV's Heath Clerk and is a true advocate for all students.

Hey CV Students! Welcome to the "Win the Day" Challenge!

What does it mean to level up? Think of it like a video game. In a game, you start at Level 1, and as you practice and improve, you can unlock new abilities and progress to higher levels. Leveling up in real life is about pushing yourself to get better, take on new challenges, and become the best version of yourself!

For this challenge, you’ll be thinking about how you want to level up in 2025. Maybe it's improving your grades, building better relationships with friends, learning a new skill, or staying more organized. Whatever it is, leveling up means making a decision to grow, work hard, and take action to improve yourself in a specific way!

You have four ways to share how you’re going to level up in 2025:

Cerro Villa will host the annual Showcase and Open House on Tuesday, January 28, 2025! Incoming parents are welcome to attend the showcase presentation at 5:30 in the Viking Auditorium.

Open House for current viking families and incoming families will take place from 6:30 - 7:30pm.

Premiere 8th Grade Promotion Seats Raffle:

*8th grade families who attend will have an opportunity to submit their names into a raffle for FOUR PREMIERE PROMOTION SEATS! Four families (4 seats each) will be randomly selected on Wednesday, January 29th. A QR raffle code will be available in each 8th grade classroom. (1 entry per student)

The Orange Unified School District is inviting all families to the Villa Park High School Community Showcase Event on January 29, 2025. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. with elementary and middle school performances, and the high school Showcase event will begin at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to see everything that our Villa Park High School Family of Schools has to offer students TK-12th grade. Additionally, we will have a highlighted student performance in the Villa Park High School Amphitheater and/or Performing Arts Center (PAC). The community will also be able to tour the new state-of-the-art Science and STEM buildings so you can show your students what they will get to experience as they go through the Villa Park High School feeder pattern. We hope to see you at this great community event.

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.

In June 2022, the Governor & State Legislature voted to pass the largest funding increase for home-to-school transportation in recent history. (See California Education Code Section 39800.1.)

OUSD is eligible to receive approximately $3.78M for the 25-26 school year. In order to receive grant funding, we are required to update our Transportation Plan and obtain feedback from our community partners regarding transportation for our students.

All grade level participation is encouraged! The survey will close on Friday, 1/31/25.

The Transportation Plan will be approved at the March board meeting, and data from the survey results will be included in the plan.

Students are asked to complete this survey to help determine where additional funds would be best allocated and prioritized for OUSD.
