David’s Law: Combating Cyberbullying and Protecting Our Teens
As part of our commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment, students will be attending a David’s Law presentation on October 9th during 4th block. This presentation will focus on the serious consequences of cyberbullying in Texas. David’s Law was enacted to address and prevent cyberbullying, which includes harassment, threats, or harm through electronic means. Cyberbullying can have severe emotional and mental health consequences for teens. Under this law, schools have the authority to address off-campus cyberbullying, and it encourages parents to be vigilant about their teen’s online behavior.
As parents, it's essential to talk to your teen about responsible internet use, report any incidents of cyberbullying to school authorities, and foster a supportive environment where they feel safe sharing their concerns. Together, we can create a safer, more respectful community.
At SA3, we are proud to be a bully-free zone, and with your support, we can continue to protect our students and promote kindness.
Topic of the Month: SELF-DIRECT
This month, we’re focusing on self-direction, an essential skill for teens. Encourage your child to practice self-management by learning to control their emotions, especially anger. Support them in developing self-care routines to manage stress and maintain balance. Help them understand the importance of thoughtful decision-making by considering both short- and long-term consequences. Lastly, remind them of the value of living an ethical life by making choices that align with their values and respect for others. These skills foster independence and a strong sense of responsibility, preparing them for success in life.
