Welcome
A note from Mrs. Panichella
As some of you may already know, my name is Jessa Panichella, and I am the Supervisor of the Early Childhood Center for Lakeview. I have been in this role since 2020, and absolutely love getting to work with Preschoolers, Staff, and Families each day. I am passionate about Early Childhood Education and helping all students to find a love of learning, starting at a young age. The work we do in Preschool really sets the tone and foundation for later social-emotional and academic success, and I am honored to be a part of each and every one of their journeys. We've worked hard over the past few years to really partner with our elementary school programming by aligning our curriculums, technology, and behavior expectations in a way that is developmentally appropriate to build a strong foundation for our students.
We are off to the start of a great school year! All of our students are settling into their classrooms and learning routines quite nicely. It's been so wonderful to visit classrooms and see everyone already so engaged in learning and having fun! We are looking forward to a great school year!
A Few Reminders:
- Please drive SLOWLY through our parking lot to ensure the safety of everyone!
- Please try and be ON TIME for your child's arrival and departure. We have many different programs here at the Wheat Building, and we work to stagger start and end times the best we can to help alleviate traffic congestion.
- Please check the weather each day, and dress your little ones appropriately. I know this is hard as it can be chilly in the mornings, and 80 degrees by afternoon!
- Also, please be sure to send them in close toed shoes so they're able to run and play safely on our playground.
Please never hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns by either calling the center at 586-445-4159 or email me at: jpanichella@scslakeview-k12.com
More info from Mrs. Moore
Hi! I am the social worker for the Early Childhood Center and support all our students to have a great experience at school! My section of the “Husky Pup Happenings” will include tips, tricks, and information to help connect what we are doing here with what you can do at home.
This month let’s celebrate the start of the school year! We’ve made it through those first couple weeks and our kiddos are starting to adjust to the change in routine, and hopefully you all are too!
To help reinforce and keep the excitement about school rolling here are some suggestions (especially for our kiddos still experiencing separation anxiety):
- Remember separation anxiety is developmentally appropriate!
- Ask about your child’s day at school - the more interested you are in what they are doing - the more they will participate and enjoy school!
- Set up playdates with school friends. Seeing friends outside of school will strengthen the interest of seeing them at school.
- Keep up the routine, even on days your child doesn’t come to school. Sleep and meals and other routines staying consistent helps our lil’ ones know what to expect. And when we know what to expect, we’re more prepared.
