Counselor Choice January Teachers of the Month
Mr. Ryan Akins
Mr. Akins works incredibly hard to ensure the success of his students. In fact, when we first tried to deliver his award, he was in the midst of trying to get a kiddo calm and back into class! His patience, grace, and continued good attitude set a great example for his students and colleagues. Mr. Akins never knows what he might be walking into, but that won't stop him from starting each day with a smile and a positive outlook.
Ms. Christina Janoe
Mrs. Janoe recently had a change in her course requirements which created a lot of additional work; she embraced the situation and turned it into a fun and positive opportunity for her students. The learning environment she creates is extremely inviting. We often hear how Mrs. Janoe makes her students feel important and accepted. That is truly invaluable! There is no question why so many students hope to have her.
Mr. Randy Stuempfig
Mr. Stuempfig accepts challenges of all kinds. Have a kid who will be out for a month? No problem. Need a last-minute schedule change solution? Sure! Need a great teacher for a student struggling? Mr. Stuempfig, of course! We cannot express enough how much it means to have Mr. Stuempfig work patiently through tricky scenarios, offering a great deal of support and always going the extra mile for kiddos in need. We are so grateful, and kids LOVE his class!
Counselor Choice February Teachers of the Month
Ms. Ella Hynson
Art Teacher
Ms. Hynson has been presented with quite a few challenging kiddos recently. She is always happy to help, asking for ways to support kids who need a little extra TLC. Ms. Hynson goes out of her way to connect with those who just need a little encouragement, always reaching out to see if there's anything she can do. When you are in her classroom, you know you are safe and valued. We appreciate her more than this award can show!
Mr. John Laubacher
Coach and Teacher
Coach Laubacher makes every kid feel important. In the morning, you will see him high fiving and fist bumping with just about every type of student that walks the halls of Flower Mound. They know they are cared for by him. We often hear that Coach Laubacher is a kind, listening ear to students in need. He makes the counselors aware of potential concerns, showing that he really gets to know his students. Thank you, Coach!
Mr. Tim Young
Math Teacher
Mr. Young is a patient, caring teacher who gives students the math confidence they need. When we presented his award and listed some of the reasons he is so impactful, the entire class began nodding their heads in agreement! Mr. Young carries a consistent positive attitude which is contagious. If you're lucky, he might even tell you a joke to start the day!
PARENT CAFE
A great opportunity for parents to connect, build community, and learn from each other. We host discussions on a range of topics and provide a meal as well as childcare for all attendees.

New 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
In May of 2023, Texas became one of 13 states who have enacted legislation to fund and implement the 988 system. In July of 2023, this became available to everyone across the US. Understanding the issues concerning suicide and mental health is an important way to take part in suicide prevention, help others in crisis and change the conversation around suicide.
