Seek and you will find… -Mathew 7:7
Recently, I read a book by Mother Angelica. Reflecting on the verse “Seek and you will find” (Mt: 7:7) she opened a door for me. In effect Mother Angelica says, in each moment of your life, seek and you will find Christ. In the best of times and in the worst of times if you seek, you will find Christ in the midst of it. Often times, we compartmentalize seeking Christ to Church one hour a week or a moment of prayer. Nevertheless, Christ is always before us, always at work within us, always working things together for the good of those who love him. Let us seek so as to find our Lord more and more throughout our day and lives.
Thursday, October 17th at 6:30 PM is Our St. Louis P3 (Prayer, Penance, and Pizza) held at St. Margaret Catholic Church. A great place to begin seeking our Lord is in Eucharistic Adoration. I encourage all of you students to seek our Lord. I hope Our Lord finds you there at P3!

Visitors on campus - Check outs, drop offs
Let's work together to build student independence! The front office is the hub of the school, and we APPRECIATE Mrs. Melissa and Mrs. Dawn. Please help us with the following:
- Check the weekly schedule
- Avoid bringing items to the front office and let your student learn to be more organized
- If you need to reach your child during the day, send them an email or call the front office
- For checkouts - complete the attendance portal on our website. We will call the students out of class and send them out to meet you. No need to come in to sign them in/out in the front office.
Thank you for helping us keep a safe and secure campus.

ACADEMICS
FACTS - grades
As education partners, SLCHS works with students and parents to develop independent learners. We encourage students to check their own grades and share that information with parents. Four short years of high school fly by and students need to be self-sufficient as they leave the nest! We are here to help!
Complete these steps to set up your FACTS account to view grades. The parent AND the student will each need to create an account. Please email mlejeune@slchs.org with any issues

PSAT - tomorrow, Friday, October 18
All Sophomores & Juniors will be taking the PSAT on Friday, October 18. Students will report directly to their testing rooms, which was posted in their “Class of 202X” TEAM. All students should be in class by 7:40 AM. We anticipate testing to be complete by 11:00 for standard time testing and 12:00 for extended time. Because students are usually mentally exhausted after the test, we will be dismissing students to go home at that time and lunch will not be served. Should your student not drive, please arrange to have your student picked up at the carpool area at or shortly after 11:00.
Students are asked NOT to bring:
- Backpacks
- Other personal Items
Cell phones and other smart devices are prohibited during testing. If a student has a cell phone, smart watch or other devices that can access the internet or cellular service, they WILL be collected and monitored by the test proctor until ALL testing materials have been returned at the end of testing.
Students MUST bring:
- Their tablets (fully charged)
- Their chargers for the tablets
- Their student ID
- An approved calculator (the online PSAT this year will provide access to a Desmos calculator)
- A bottle of water and a snack for break
**We do not have enough calculators to share with all students so students MUST bring their own if they know how to use one & desire to use it.
ACT Boot Camp with Mrs. DeFelice
CLICK HERE for details about three different ACT Boot Camps available to students prior to the October 26th ACT test date.
Timed Practice Boot Camp (Sat. Oct 19th) is the new class added this year to provide the much-needed timed practice-and-answer analysis in all four subject areas. In my opinion, this class is the most important one for students to take.

Orange, Blue & You Jr. High Dance - TIME CHANGE
The Youth Ministry Office at the Diocese of Lake Charles is planning a Junior High lock-in and will soon have details for our youth. Since the lock-in is being planned for October 26, the same night as our Orange, Blue & You Jr. High Dance, we are changing the times of the dance so that those families with a student wanting to also attend the lock-in can transition between the Pavilion at St. Louis Catholic to Camp Karol.
So that our youth can have two fun events to attend that evening, the new time for the dance is 6:00-8:00pm. Please see the updated flyers, and please be sure to RSVP for the event.
SERVICE - Hurricane Helene Relief
We have received many inquiries from people in our community as to how we can best help those affected by Hurricane Helene and for those that will be in need with Hurricane Milton. We as a school will be teaming up with Catholic Charities and would recommend anyone who is wanting to help to do the same, as they have a direct contact to other Catholic Charities affiliates in both areas that are in need and will be in need. More information will be going out next week on what we will be doing as a school but in the meantime, we wanted to thank you all who have reached out and are wanting to help!
