What's Happening at Trollwood?

It has certainly been busy around Trollwood this week after a whirlwind start to June. Trollwood Academy, Totally Trollwood Academy, and the Mainstage Musical are all hitting their stride and moving ahead full steam, plus the first ArtSpark sessions of the summer kicked off this week!

The Addams Family cast, crew, and orchestra are cruising right along towards the ultimate goal of opening night on July 16! The set is starting to take shape on the stage, and the actors and orchestra are learning all of their parts.

After settling in and getting comfortable during the first week of classes last week, students are really finding their groove this week during Week 2. They are moving ahead with all of their projects and performances and are already looking forward to sharing everything they've worked on with their peers at Share Days next Thursday and Friday! Trollwood Conservatory kicks off next week for our more advanced students with instructors Dr. Kirstin Griffeath and Dr. Robin Griffeath.

The summer's first sessions of ArtSpark kicked off this week and the kindergarteners through fourth graders are having a great time while learning theatre basics and preparing a show. The first ArtSpark performances of the summer will be today, June 14, at Ben Franklin Middle School, with Grades K-2 at 1 p.m. and Grades 3-4 at 3 p.m. There are still opportunities to sign up for ArtSpark sessions July 15-19 and 22-26.

Classes Week 2

Our students in Trollwood Academy and Totally Trollwood Academy are digging deeper into their chosen areas of study as they complete their second week of classes. They are getting comfortable and gaining confidence in their skills as they look ahead to sharing their talents with their peers at Share Days next week. The Addams Family - Tickets on Sale Now!

The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Tickets for the 2024 Mainstage Musical production The Addams Family are ON SALE NOW! Tickets can be purchased online by clicking the button below or in person at the Trollwood Box Office, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Lighting Up the Stage

The Mainstage Musical lighting team, led by Lighting Director Cedar Remmen, have begun hanging the lights at the Bluestem Amphitheater. There will be nearly 500 lights illuminating the stage during The Addams Family.

Sun Celebration: A Performing Arts Extravaganza

Come see the fruits of Trollwood Performing Arts School's talented students' hard work this summer at the new-look Sun Celebration at 6:30 p.m. on June 26! Whether their talent is acting, filmmaking, dancing, or singing, all of our students have worked hard this summer to develop and grow in those skills. At Sun Celebration, the community is invited to walk with us through a typical day at Trollwood. Witness performances and demonstrations from our summer classes in an open house style environment to get a firsthand glimpse at what Trollwood is all about and see what our students have learned!

This year, Sun Celebration has a whole new look and schedule, featuring the premiere of the Sunshine Showcase! The showcase, beginning at 7:30, in between Periods 2 and 3, will feature a celebration of the 2024 senior class and a sneak preview of the Mainstage Musical The Addams Family. In place of our traditional picnic, food trucks including, Black Bird Woodfire Pizza, Broskis Birria Street Tacos, Bomb Dogs, and Tropical Sno will be available throughout the evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m., including during the Sunshine Showcase. Come prepared with a blanket and be ready to purchase food from vendors.

Sun Celebration is fun for the whole family with food, games, and activities in addition to the performances and demonstrations.
