Principal Message - Kanika A. Burks
Good Afternoon MCP: Lola Rowe North Families,
The rain, sleet, snow and low temperatures caused three inclement weather days in 2024!! Our scholars did not allow the challenges of reality to disrupt their mission possible. When scholars walked in the building on Wednesday, they were excited to see each other and the MCP staff. We focused on our TRECK Value of empathy, continued MAP Testing (K5 - 8th grade) and MyIgdis Assessments (K4), focused on our content classes, actively engaged in specials classes, enjoyed indoor recess and even celebrated scholar and staff birthdays! Next week will be our first full week of classes in 2024!!!
Though we are back into our normal school routine, I know that staff and families are still feeling the impact of the extreme weather of the weekend. The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) gives food assistance to low-income households with food loss or damage caused by a natural disaster. Current FoodShare members who lose food purchased with FoodShare benefits due to a flood, a fire, or other household misfortune, can request the replacement benefits from the State. Per the Foodshare handbook, the loss of power for four (4) or more hours can qualify as a household misfortune. If you have to replace food due to a power outage this weekend, please utilize this link https://www.hungertaskforce.org/2024/01/15/d-snap/
This newsletter is filled with important information. Pertinent information from the previous newsletter is below the new information. Please be sure to read the entire newsletter until you see the MCP logo!!
