Banned Books Week
September 27-October 3
Banned Book Week
It’s Banned Books Week! Banned Books Week sheds light on attempts that have been made to restrict or remove materials from libraries and schools. Libraries celebrate the freedom to read, fight against censorship, and support intellectual freedom. You can read more about Banned Books Week here: http://bit.ly/1LKwTtE and http://bit.ly/1Gfh8Vx.

Make sure you stop by the Library to check out the display faculty librarian Leigh-Ann Thornhill, who works at both the Merced and Los Banos Campus libraries, put together. She also has a fun contest (see the details below). Come take a look!

Guess the Book in the Jar Contest
In recognition of Banned Books Week, we've taken a commonly banned book and shredded it. It's a symbolic representation of what it means to ban a book.
If you can correctly guess what the book is based on what you can see from the shreds and the clues we've provided, we'll enter you in a drawing to win a copy of the book and a gift card! Just fill out your name, phone number, and your guess on the blue sheets available near the jar in the Library.
The winner will be drawn on Mon., Oct. 5th at 5 pm.
