A Moment With Ms O'Donnnell
Dear Attea Families,
We hope all parents were able to connect with teachers regarding the growth, progress, and goals of their child! We have one more trimester of learning and development and look forward to supporting all of our students as they strive to do their best.
We appreciate your involvement in your students' learning, value our partnership, and need your perspective. Please help ATTEA GROW. We are asking every family to complete the State of Illinois 5 Essentials Survey. We are currently at 6% parent participation in the survey, and we need to be at 20% to get valuable results that can assist the school in making future plans for success. The survey would take about 1O minutes of your time, and we NEED your thoughts and voice, which will positively impact our school.
On Friday this week, I will connect with all 8th-grade students regarding graduation, Great America, 8th-grade dance, and 8th-grade t-shirts. We have an excellent class of 2024, and we look forward to these fantastic celebrations. On Friday, we will send paper communication home with each student regarding expectations to ensure that ALL students and families understand the importance of making safe and responsible choices to enable them to participate in all these fantastic experiences.
Go Flyers!

Another Moment...With Ms. Thorne
As you learned in this recent message from Dr. Matt Silverman, District 34 will administer the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in April. The specific dates that Attea’s students will take IAR assessments are:
Wednesday, April 3rd - Math 1
Thursday, April 4th - Math 2
Friday, April 5th - Math 3
Tuesday, April 6th - ELA 1
Wednesday, April 7th - ELA 2
If your child must miss a scheduled day of testing, they will have the opportunity to take the tests beginning on Thursday, April 8, 2024. The testing window, mandated by the Illinois State Board of Education, closes Friday, April 19, 2024.
Please email me by March 22, 2024 (before Spring Break), if you know in advance that your child will miss any of the test dates. This notice will help our planning (though the alternate dates will also be available for students who miss due to illness, conflicts, or cultural support.
Sincerely,
Allyson Thorne

Your Input on Your Child’s School: 5Essentials Survey
January 30 - March 29, 2024
You can take the 2023-2024 5Essentials Parent Survey NOW!
You don't need your child's ID to take the parent survey. If the link is redirecting you to the student survey, click here for the English parent survey, and click here for the survey in Spanish.
(If you have children in more than one school, please take the survey for each school.)
The District plans to use the results of this year's survey to give us a clear picture of our schools' climate and culture. If at least 20% of parents participate in the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated and the District will share these results with the community.
Please do your services to Attea and complete the 5Essentials Survey. We are at 6% completion and we need to get 20% of our parents completing the survey to obtain data that we can use for school improvements and growth.
PLEASE take the survey TODAY!
Take the 2023-2024 5Essentials Parent Survey!
Thanks for advance for your time and support to help Attea to grow!
Plastic Film Challenge!
They are calling all students and families! Attea Middle School's Environmental Club is hosting a plastic film challenge! Students have learned about plastic film and the importance of recycling it through a video and morning announcements at school. We are asking families to collect plastic film at home and have their child bring it to add to their team’s bin found in the science classroom! Here's a list of plastics you can bring in:
Exciting Times Ahead for the Class of 2024!
