This week Pre-K students explored the wonderful world of trees, learning to compare sizes and use words like bigger, smaller, wider, and skinnier. They created festive crafts with candy corn, acorns, leaves, paper mache and glitter to help get ready for Halloween and also support fine motor development! These materials also allow for fun connections to math concepts such as counting and sorting. With regard to emergent literacy skills, depending on readiness, students practiced letter identification, letter-sound correspondence, as well as formation. The latter is achieved through a variety of modalities including writing it on paper and chalkboards, and creating fun letter art with play dough or shaving cream.
This week in Kindergarten, students have been busy developing key literacy, math, and science skills! In Fundations, they practiced writing and recognizing the sounds for the letters "i" and "u," echoing their teachers and using fun tools like dry-erase boards and magnet letters. In English Language Arts, they explored parts of a book and shared their ideas through drawing. Math lessons focused on addition, subtraction, and sorting objects, while in Science, students observed the weather and compared two types of owls. Lastly, during Social Studies, they shared their special interests and talents with their classmates!
Finally, a special thanks goes out to our PTO volunteers, main office staff, and custodians for their involvement in this year's Pumpkin Patch event. Students enjoyed a festive story, played engaging games, and had a great time decorating pumpkins. It was a day filled with smiles and autumn spirit!

📢 Notice to Families: Safe Schools Week - Oct 21 - 25 🌟
From Lynn Slomczewski, Lincoln School Counselor
Safe Schools Week is an important initiative dedicated to promoting a safe and nurturing environment for our young learners. To bring awareness to this important issue, we'll emphasize:
🤝 Kindness Activities: Our young students will engage in age-appropriate activities that teach the value of kindness, empathy, and conflict resolution.
🗣️ Discussions: We will hold discussions with children about resolving conflicts peacefully and seeking help when needed.
We encourage your active involvement in Safe Schools Week to reinforce these values at home. Talk with your children about the trusted adults in their lives. Coach them to identify trusted adults at home, in school, and in the community who can help them feel safe. Thank you for your partnership in this important endeavor.
FROM THE DISTRICT
From the Math Department
Dear Parents and Guardians: We kindly ask for a few moments of your time to complete a survey about your child’s experience with our elementary mathematics program. Your valuable feedback will provide us with insights into how the program is supporting students’ learning and where improvements can be made. This information is essential for our district leadership as we strive to ensure that every child receives the best possible math education, helping us to make informed decisions that will positively impact both current and future students. This survey will remain open until Wednesday, October 30. Even if your child(ren) are no longer in elementary school, we would appreciate your feedback on their experience with the program at the time. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
⏰ Timely Arrival
We appreciate your cooperation getting students to school on time each and every day! Late arrivals interrupt the flow of the class, and the late comer requires time to catch up with what the class has already accomplished.
📥Parent Pick-Up & Changes to Dismissal Plans
When the dismissal plan of a student is a parent pick up, it is the expectation that a parent or guardian will pick up. Any change to the plan must be communicated in an email to the teacher and the main office secretaries on the day of the change. The designee for pick up will have to show the teacher a government issued photo ID. These practices help us to manage the safe dismissal of all students.
OBSERVANCES
This October, we recognize the resilience, achievements, and ongoing advocacy of individuals with disabilities. We reaffirm our commitment to creating a more inclusive society and celebrate the diverse perspectives and talents that enrich our communities.
FAMILY RESOURCE OF THE WEEK
Tilt Parenting is a podcast offering valuable insights for parents of neurodivergent children, covering topics like learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism. With over 400 episodes, it features interviews with experts and personal conversations aimed at supporting families raising differently wired kids.
