Welcome to November!
As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to bring you a month full of activities, resources, and opportunities for families to engage with our school. This newsletter highlights key events and support available to all our families.
Character Strong Trait Of The Month "Empathy"
This month’s focus is Empathy. One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Setting Goals for Academic Success: Teaching Valuable Life Skills
Dear Parents,
As we approach the middle of the school year, it's the perfect time to focus on setting academic goals with your child. Goal setting is more than just aiming for better grades—it’s a powerful tool that teaches valuable life skills and fosters personal growth. Here’s how:
- Teaching Responsibility: When children set their own goals, they learn to take ownership of their learning and actions, which helps them become more responsible and self-motivated.
- Building Time Management Skills: Setting goals often involves breaking them down into manageable tasks. This teaches students how to prioritize their time effectively and stay organized.
- Encouraging Perseverance: Goals can be challenging, but working towards them helps children develop resilience and perseverance. They learn to overcome obstacles and keep striving for success, even when the path is difficult.
- Boosting Confidence: Achieving goals, no matter how small, boosts a child’s confidence and self-esteem. It shows them that their efforts lead to success, reinforcing a positive mindset towards learning.
We encourage you to sit down with your child to set clear, achievable academic goals. Discuss their aspirations, and help them create a plan to reach them. Your support will make a significant difference in their journey to success.
Warm regards,

OMA and Band News
Happy Fall from the OMA room! In Mr. Dominic's OMA classes, we continue to learn practice keeping a steady beat. Our younger friends are learning about shapes and patterns in music, Fall holidays and celebrations such as Dia De Los Muertos, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. Our third graders have learned notes E, F, and G on their recorders and have already learned a few songs. Fifth graders in band continue to work at mastering the first five notes on their instruments, and learning how important it is to work as a team as we prepare music for Winterfest. Please make sure to save the date for Winterfest: Tuesday, December 17th, 5PM. Each grade will be performing so we'd love to have everyone there to help make our concert great. Fifth and third graders, please return your forms to Mr. Dominic so that you can have an instrument to practice at home.
