Hi, my name is Faith Shirey. I got my Inclusive Elementary Education degree at the University of Colorado Colorado Colorado Springs. I am thrilled about this opportunity to work at Freedom! It has been a dream since I was a kid to be a teacher. I am excited to make connections with families, staff, and students and make an impact daily. When I’m not working, I love to travel, paddleboard, hike, and cheer on the Colorado Avalanche.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Sarah Traff began playing the viola in the 4th grade. At 15, she decided music was the one thing she never wanted to stop doing, so she dedicated herself to studying and playing music, eventually graduating from the University of Oregon with a Master's degree in Viola Performance and String Pedagogy.

She has taught several beginning and intermediate string orchestras, Suzuki string classes, and many private students as well as performed in a variety of orchestras including the Oregon Mozart Players, Eugene Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and Pueblo Symphony.

She has lived in Colorado Springs for 7 years with her husband and two sons, ages 10 and 11.

For fun she enjoys mountain biking with WMBA, hiking local trails with the family dog, Leo, and spending time with friends exploring new restaurants and coffee shops.

Our new volunteer and visitor program, Visitor Aware, is now active! This replaces the Engage program we used previously. If you plan on volunteering in the school or attending an upcoming field trip, please take a few moments to register on the new volunteer site. Even if you have already registered this school year, please do so again. Our hope had been that all of our approved volunteers would have been grandfathered in but unfortunately that did not happen. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the front office at 719-228-0800.
