Flexible Instructional Day (FID) Reminders
You may have noticed the forecast for next week includes frigid temperatures. Please be assured that we will carefully monitor the weather conditions to determine if any adjustments to our school schedule are necessary.
These adjustments may include:
- Delayed Start: To ensure the safety of students who walk or wait at bus stops in extreme cold, and to allow temperatures to rise slightly.
- School Closure: If the wind chill remains dangerously low throughout the day.
As a reminder, the District will only declare a FID in the following situations:
- Pre-emptive Closure: If we need to close schools in advance (e.g., deciding on Tuesday morning to close school on Wednesday).
- Second Day of Closure: If school is already closed on one day and we determine that another closure is necessary.
Our staff has discussed with your children their plan for a FID. This includes:
- Location of Learning Materials: Where they will access their schoolwork.
- Availability for Support: When their teacher will be available to answer their questions virtually.
- Submission Deadline: Students have three days to submit any assigned work.
Our staff discussed this with students before the break, but a refresher will help ensure a smooth transition to remote learning if the need arises.
Please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher(s) if you have any questions about a FID.
Emergency Make-Up Day
School will be in session on February 14th. This is our first emergency make-up day, replacing the time missed on January 6th for inclement weather. Please reach out if you have any questions!
A-C Reads
As your family continues to enjoy Almost Super please send any pictures of you and your child reading the book to edavis@acschools.org. We love to see our students becoming reading superheroes!
Exciting Volunteer Opportunity!
We need volunteers to present Junior Achievement programs in our classrooms.
For as little as an hour a week (5 visits), you can make a difference in the lives of young people in your community.
JA programs provide important life skills through hands-on educational activities focusing on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness.
Our programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and real-world applications, enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school.
