We hope that our Eagles had a fun and relaxing time over Spring Break!

Monday, April 21 is a Teacher Workday, there will be no school for students.

Tuesday, April 22 is Volunteer Appreciation Day! We are thankful for the love and time supported by our volunteers. A special thank you will be coming home with your child to show our appreciation.

We will have a School Improvement Team meeting on Wednesday, April 23 at 3:45 in the Media Center. All parents and staff are welcome to attend.

Administrative Appreciation is Wednesday, April 23. We are so grateful for Ms. Baysden, Mrs. Fountain and Mrs. Mahlandt! They work hard to make every student, staff and parent feel welcome and assist in any way to make our day go smoothly. We are so appreciative of them!

Kindergarten enrollment is open, please let your family and friends know! We can't wait to meet our new Eagles!

Join us for dinner on Tuesday, April 29 for Dairio Spirit Night from 5pm-8pm. 10% of sales will be donated to Summersill.

We will have a practice lockdown drill this week. Just as we have fire drills, it is a way to practice safety and what to do in the event of an incident.

We have only 32 more days of school, can you believe it? Our students have a lot of assessments coming up, so their attendance is crucial to their success.

5th grade students will take the Science NC check-ins on April 30, Math May 1 and Reading May 2.

iReady Diagnostics and Dibels for K-5th will begin on May 2.

Our EOG dates and retakes are as follows.

Reading EOG for 3rd, 4th and 5th Wednesday, May 28

Math EOG for 3rd, 4th and 5th Thursday, May 29

Science EOG 5th grade only Tuesday, June 3

Retake Reading EOG Wednesday, June 4

Retake Math EOG Thursday, June 5

Summer school will not be offered this Summer, but students are able to retake the EOGs before school ends.

Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year

* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years

* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom

* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
