Principal Message
Hello Waubesa Families,
Our fifth graders have their last ever Art and Music Show, tomorrow, Monday, April 29 at Waubesa. The times for upstairs and downstairs are outlined above in the “Dates to Remember” section. We hope to see you there!
Just a reminder that Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is May 6-10. The EC-8 PTO invited all 4K-8 students to decorate a star with either their favorite thing about one of their teachers or school. Stars were sent home last Monday, April 22. We asked to return stars by Friday, April 26. If you didn’t send it in on Friday, please drop it off tomorrow to the main office (LINK to the Star if your student did not bring one home or if you would like to make multiple).
As spring approaches and families begin to think about transitioning their students to a new building, we wanted to share this transition presentation with all of you. The presentation provides insights into some of the common questions and transition activities that occur at CEPS, WIS, and IMMS. Further information about transitions will be coming throughout the spring.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

What better way to kick off our School Lunch Hero Day (5/3/24) than to have our everyday heroes join us for breakfast?
We have invited our local police officers to join us on Wednesday, May 1st. Students who choose to eat breakfast will follow our routine breakfast procedures. Donuts and other assorted breakfast items will be available for purchase.
Please don't hesitate to contact the nutrition department (ribblej1@mcfsd.org) with any questions.
Attendance Reminder
- A note or a screen chart (Mychart) provided to the school by a physician will be marked as MED in the students attendance record and will not count against their absences. Please reach out to Emily Gierl, Social Worker gierle@mcfsd.org, if you have questions regarding the policy. Medical notes can also be emailed to wisattendance@mcfsd.org.

Health Services

Bridging Brighter Smiles Dental Clinic will be back at WIS on Tuesday, May 7th and Tuesday, May 14th for their spring visits! It's not too late to enroll! See flier information for more details and how to enroll; as well as the MSD Health Service website for additional Dental Resources.
Spring Allergies
April showers bring May flowers--and pollen! If your student suffers from Spring allergies, Health Services can help. We are happy to keep over-the-counter allergy medicines such as Zyrtec, Claritin or Allegra for your student to take during the school day. If this is something you're interested in doing, please fill out our over-the-counter medication consent form, sign the bottom and send it to your student's health office. Medications must be sent in the original container-please no pills in baggies, tupperware or other unlabeled containers. Each health office does keep oral Benadryl in stock, for those with life-threatening allergic reactions. It is not recommended to be used as a first-line treatment for seasonal allergies and careful consideration should be taken when administering Benadryl at school, given that it can result in drowsiness.
It can be difficult to determine whether red, itchy and watery eyes are a result of Spring allergies or are a result of a bacterial or viral infection that may need further evaluation. See below for a quick run-down of symptoms, treatment and the District's guidelines on exclusion from school for pink eye.
Bacterial pink eye: Symptoms include yellow or green colored, sticky discharge from the affected eye. Eyes are often very itchy and the eyelids may become swollen. You may notice your child's eyelids are crusted shut, especially in the morning. This must be treated with antibiotic ointment or eye drops and will then typically clear within 5-7 days.
Viral pink eye: Discharge is normally watery but may be sticky and yellow in the morning. Eyelids can become very swollen. Symptoms typically follow a recent cold or sore throat. Antibiotic ointments or eye drops will not help with viral pink eye. Eye wash solutions such as Artificial Tears can help relieve symptoms. Contact your Provider if symptoms do not improve within 7-14 days.
MSD's Health Services Department follows the DHS Wisconsin Childhood Communicable Disease guidelines for exclusion practices from school. For the majority of pink eye cases, students do not have to be excluded from school. Circumstances that would result in your student being excluded from school include fever or if the student is unable to refrain from touching their affected eye. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Stephanie Peplinski, District Nurse, at peplins@mcfsd.org.
