Marcellus Middle School Messenger

• Homework hour is at the Middle School Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. It is available to all students, and they do not need to sign up in advance.
• School Picture forms will be sent home with students on Monday, September 9
• Students will have a 1/2 day on Tuesday, September 10 (all students will be dismissed from the middle school on 1/2 days)
• School Pictures are September 12
• Homework hour will begin September 9
• Saturday School will begin on October 26 and will be held once monthly
• Fun Friday will begin on September 13

Students will be given a new missing assignment report each Friday. On Friday, during select elective class times, students who have missing work are sent to work with staff members to complete as much missing work as possible. Missing work needs to be turned in by the end of the school day on Thursday or it will still appear on the missing assignment report. Students can also use this time to get extra help from a teacher. Students who have all their work completed may participate in board games, movies, open gym, and other fun activities their elective teachers dream up for them. Please ask your child if they have any missing assignments and encourage them to complete any they may have. Our goal is to create a culture where all students do all assignments on time. With all of us working together, we can achieve this goal. Friday Fun Days will begin September 13.

Saturday School will be held monthly at Marcellus Middle School. One Saturday each month, the middle school will host Saturday School. The principal can assign students to Saturday School, or they may choose to attend to get extra help with assignments. Saturday School runs from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Transportation and breakfast are not provided. Saturday School will begin in October.

Student athletes must be passing all of their classes to participate in middle school athletics.

Student Fall Athletic Passes: Passes are $10 each for student-athletes and $20 each for non-athletes. They can be purchased at the home games or the middle school office. Students should bring in exact change or checks made out to Marcellus Community Schools. Passes will be sent to the student's email and will be good for all fall home games. All students will need a pass to be admitted to games or must pay individual ticket prices at the gate. Please call the office at 269 646-3158 if you have any questions.

• Please call the office by 7:30 a.m. if your child will be absent from school
• 6th grade students end their day at the high school for band or the elementary school for computers
• 7th grade and 8th-grade students will be at the elementary school and high school for their first class of the day
• Breakfast and lunch are provided for all Marcellus Community Schools' students free of charge this year. Breakfast provides energy that is necessary to focus and be productive at school and contributes to increased academic achievement. Breakfast is offered to Marcellus Middle School students at the following location: Marcellus Middle School, 125 S Burney St., Marcellus, MI 49067. Breakfast is free for all students.
