It has been an amazing first week back to school at Alice Vail! Our Falcons are already building new relationships with their teachers and friends, and they’re getting to know all about our wonderful school. The energy and enthusiasm in our halls have been incredible!

Our boys' basketball, girls' volleyball, and cross-country teams have kicked off their seasons with some fantastic practices. The dedication and spirit our students are showing on and off the court are truly inspiring. Let’s keep that Falcon pride going strong!
Save the Dates:
- August 14: AVMS Open House 5 – 7 PM
- Food trucks will be available by the cafeteria.
- 5:00 PM: All teachers and AVMS families meet in the cafeteria.
- 5:10 PM: Title 1 Presentation with Mr. Peebles.
- 5:30-7:00 PM: Students will follow their schedules to visit their classrooms.
- August 21: District PD Day – No School for Students
- August 22: 5:30-6:30 PM PTSA Meeting
- Join us in person in the cafeteria or via Zoom.
- September 2: Labor Day – No School
- September 18 - 20: Parent-Teacher Conferences

We are very happy to equip our students with the latest technology tools. Families can help set students up with healthy, and safe digital practices. We ask that you manage student iPads at home with limited screen time and your approved content. Please give students frequent reminders that the iPads are for educational purposes. 🎤 CHOIR ANNOUNCEMENT 🎤
As this new school year starts, if you are interested in having a musically enriched class this year, come join choir! Beginning Choir is open to all students with any level of music experience. Beginning choir happens during 6th period.
If you have some music experience, come audition for the Advanced Choir. For the audition you must sing one song of your choosing. Auditions will be held after school starting Monday, August 5th till Tuesday August 13th. Email Mr. Warner with any questions at Stephen.warner@.tusd1.org.

Looking ahead-
8/14 4:30-5:30 - Meet PTSA volunteers in the Alice Vail lobby before teacher rotations start. (We're parents too so we'll be manning the booth before and after the teacher rotations.) Come say hi and tell us where you're able to help this year.
8/20 4-8pm - Falcons Dine Out! at Chipotle on Broadway. Say you're there for the Alice Vail fundraiser and 25% of your bill goes to the PTSA. You'll be seeing more about this on our socials and if you're signed up for the PTSA emails.
8/22 5:30-6:30pm - PTSA Kick-Off in the AVMS Cafeteria. Parents, students, siblings, family are all welcome to give input in shaping the PTSA's goals for the year. We also need to fill the Treasurer and VP spots and introducing the concept of a VP of each grade. (Want more family engagement in your grade? Wish there were dances and social events for our kids? Want your 8th grader to have an awesome party to graduate? This is how we do that!)
