Teamwork Island

Through an activity called Teamwork Island, we were able to discuss decision making as it relates to substance use with 5th graders in Ms. Belocas’ Health Classes at Indian Brook Elementary School this week. Thanks for being active and excited participants!

If They Had Known

“If They Had Known” is a documentary that tells the story of Clay Soper, a young man who lost his life as a result of mixing alcohol and Xanax. This film, which sheds light on the impact of current party culture, is about 30 minutes in length and discusses this tragedy from multiple different perspectives including Clay's parents, friends, and experts in the field. Please join us at 6:30pm on Thursday, January 17 in Plymouth North’s Lecture Hall, located on the second floor of the building to view the documentary and engage in a meaningful discussion following the film.

Student Leadership Opportunity this summer!


Looking for student leaders who are ready to take charge!


Camp Invention Leadership Interns can earn 40 volunteer hours in one week. Must be entering at least grade 10 in the fall. Leaders-in-Training must be entering grades 7-9 in order to take advantage of this opportunity to gain mentorship experience.


Camp Invention is July 8-12 at PCIS.

22nd Annual Early Childhood Fair

The Plymouth Family Network is sponsoring the 22nd Annual Early Childhood Fair on Saturday, February 2 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Plymouth North High School. The theme for this year's fair is "This is ME: Building Social & Emotional Skills". (Snow date is 2/9/2019)


We present this community wide early childhood fair to increase public awareness of the need for high quality childcare and early education. It also provides families with information about the variety of community services available in Plymouth for young children and their families. The fair includes special activities and entertainment for families with young children including school bus rides, crafts, drumming, dance party, educational activities and much more.

Miss Megan’s class has a New Years celebration where they counted down from 10 into the new year!


Now that it’s winter students have been making snowflake and snowmen arts and crafts. Miss Merry’s class played a counting game by tossing a snowball onto a snowman.


Hopefully we will have some snow soon so the students can make a real snowman.

Virtual Snowflakes from around the US!

Federal Furnace kindergarteners are learning about digital citizenship and global collaboration in technology class by creating their own virtual snowflakes and sharing them with the world. They learned about being respectful online and not sharing personal information like your full name, address, school, or telephone number. They were able to find and "catch" each other's snowflakes, as well as snowflakes made by people from places like Seattle and Ohio.

A Class full of Bucket Fillers!

Mrs. Wolfe's students have all become Bucket Fillers! Students earn pom poms to place into their bucket every time they are a "bucket filler". Any time they show acts of kindness, sharing, being helpful or sympathetic toward others, they can fill their own bucket. When buckets are filled we are going to have a party! This week students are writing Bucket Filling messages to peers and FFES staff and delivering their notes. It has been really great watching students feel the joy and excitement of delivering these kind messages making people's day!

Surprise Acts of Kindness

Mrs. Brown's Girl Scouts treated the school to a surprise of positive notes on their lockers. What a fun idea!

Fifth Grade teamwork

MES fifth graders have been working collaboratively to solve some special challenge problems in Ms. Hatch's math class.

Kindness Ukulele

Mrs. Fonseca has added a special "Kindness Ukulele" to our music room at NMES. This ukulele was donated by the Wong family in memory of Jorge Velazquez (a man who loved to play ukulele at family gatherings). During ukulele lessons in each class, a student will be picked who is being kind to others, and will get to play this special instrument. Many thanks to the Wong family for their thoughtful donation and also to Mrs. Fonseca and Ms. Krampf for continuing to inspire the young musicians at NMES!

What's the Weather?

Grade 7 students in Mrs. Doherty's classes developed weather reports for selected Spanish cities around the world. After developing scripts to share their predictions, each group used green screen technology to digitally record their Spanish-language newscasts.

Mastering the Guitar

In general music class, sixth grade students are learning how to play the guitar. They have been working on the basics of holding the instrument, reading chord diagrams, and even playing melodies. Some students have even been able to provide their own accompaniment while singing folk tunes.

Now Serving!

Students in Mrs. Figlioli's Introduction to Hospitality class created their own food trucks, menus and dishes to serve. Students served each other and special guests during the competition to see who could generate the most sales. They were also judged on their dish design and customer service. Congratulations to Wilcelis Luna Medina for winning the competition with her El Sabor Mexicana Food Truck!

The History of Games

Students in "Introduction to Gaming" learned the history of games and used that knowledge to create their own unique board games. They spent time playing each others games strategizing and critiquing. This activity is in preparation for developing and coding their own digital computerized games.
