Greetings Harllee Families!

It was so great to see you all at Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday! I could feel the energy throughout the building. We are so close to the SUPER First Day of School. Our SUPER Team has been working tirelessly to prepare! On Monday, August 15th our doors will open at 7:30AM. Harllee Families are permitted to walk your Super Hawk to class. We do ask that you say, "Goodbye" at the classroom door. Families will enter through the main entrance. Please be prepared to sign. After walking your Hawk to class you are welcome to join us for a Boo Hoo Breakfast for Harllee Parents hosted by our PTA! Lastly, please ensure you pick up your Hawk's dismissal tags on Monday morning to be prepared for afternoon dismissal. All individuals who will pick up your student throughout the year should be listed in Power School. Please send Ms. Daniels an e-mail at kdaniels@dallasisd.org. If you would like to update this.

Estamos muy cerca del SUPER Primer Día de Clases. ¡Nuestro equipo SUPER ha estado trabajando incansablemente para prepararse! El lunes 15 de agosto nuestras puertas se abrirán a las 7:30AM. Las familias de Harllee pueden llevar a su Super Hawk a clase. Le pedimos que diga: "Adiós" en la puerta del aula. Las familias entrarán por la entrada principal. Por favor, prepárese para firmar. ¡Después de llevar a su Hawk a clase, puede unirse a nosotros para un desayuno Boo Hoo para padres de Harllee organizado por nuestra PTA! Por último, asegúrese de recoger sus etiquetas de despido de Hawk el lunes por la mañana para estar preparado para el despido por la tarde. Did you know?

• Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
• Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
• Students can still fall behind if they miss just 1 or 2 days every few weeks. • Being late to school may lead to poor attendance
• Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.

The Texas State Compulsory Attendance Law requires students ages 6 through 19 to attend school. Section 25.085 requires students to go to school each school day for the entire school day unless exempted by law. This requirement includes students who have voluntarily enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten and students who are nineteen years old or older.

Students who violate this law may get referral(s) for court proceedings against the parent, guardian or student to enforce the law.

Violation of the law occurs when students get unexcused absences for 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period.

Partial Absence

Students are required to attend school from the time the school day begins until the time the school day ends. A partial day absence occurs when a student is not present for part of the school day.

A student who arrives late or leaves early will get a partial absence.

The school will decide whether the partial absence is excused or unexcused using the same standards for determining the status of full-day absences.
