RESULTS FROM THE FINAL RENAMING SURVEY
The student-led Warrior Renaming Committee has completed their final survey and Golden Knights received the most votes.
Based on the results of this survey, the student-led committee unanimously recommended Golden Knights as the new nickname to the superintendent. As a result, the June 17th Board of Education Meeting will have a recommended action for the Board to adopt this nickname, which will go into effect for the 2025-26 school year. The District will take the 2024 – 2025 school year to develop a new logo and mascot. During this time, the District will continue to use the Warriors nickname.

PODCAST: 2024-25 TENURE RECIPIENTS
CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR WALK THROUGH
The Class of 2024 returned to their respective elementary schools for the annual Senior Walk Through this week! Soon-to-be graduates were greeted by former teachers and current elementary school students.
SECOND GRADE STUDENTS LEARNED BEEKEEPING AT APHS
Ms. Caboot's Sustainable Horticulture students hosted the 2nd grade students from the three elementary schools recently! High School students ran stations to engage 2nd grade students in the topic of pollination! Senior Marlee Cooke, showcased the observation beehive and taught students about their honey bees, Senior Anna Wicks and Sophomore Jackson Palmateer shared facts on how to beekeep, and Senior Meg Rounds gave a tour and ran a scavenger hunt in the garden and greenhouse.
FIFTH-GRADE CLASSES TOURED AMS

Congratulations to Bethany Nitz, APHS Teacher Aide; Garry Stone, APHS Custodian; and Mike Cavotta and Chris Anderson, AMS Teachers, for all being named Averill Park CSD Employees of the Month!
Bethany Nitz always goes above and beyond to help students and teachers, in the office and in the classroom. Gary Stone will always lend a hand to anyone in need. Mike Cavotta and Chris Anderson are dedicated to serving all their students at AMS.
WSL STUDENTS MADE BRISTLE BOTS
Following the end of the reading of WSL's One School One Book “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown, students at WSL met with their buddies to create bristle bots. This fun STEM activity was funded by their WSL PTA and the students LOVED the activity. Students in grades 3-5 created their own bristle bots in their classrooms and then they mentored their buddies from grades K-2 to assemble theirs.
PES STUDENTS VISITED DYKEN POND AND SAW A VALLEYCATS GAME
APHS STUDENTS WENT TO SIX FLAGS NEW ENGLAND
On Friday, May 31, the Physics, AP Calc, and AP Statistics students attended an educational field trip to gain real-world, hands-on experience at Six Flags New England.
The weather was beautiful and students enjoyed the day!

School Resource Officer Deputy Nikles came to grade 6 TEAM classes this trimester to discuss internet safety, digital footprint, safe usernames, and secure passwords. Thank you Deputy Nikles!

NEW NYS SUMMER EBT PROGRAM
This Summer, New York State is launching a new Summer EBT program that provides households with food benefits to help cover the cost of groceries when school is out of session and students cannot rely on school meals during the weekday.

Recently, District, Building Administration, and members of the Board of Education, visited Mr. Duff and Mr. Miller's Video game development class. They were able to play 8 student-created games.
MRS. RYAN'S & MRS. FERLITO'S CLASSES HELD A GRADUATION PICNIC
On Monday, June 10th, Mrs. Ryan's and Mrs. Ferlito's classes held a graduation picnic for graduating senior Katy Story. A huge thank you to Officer Nikles for bringing his grill and cooking for both classes! Best wishes to Katy!
WSL STUDENTS SAW A VALLEY CATS GAME
Great time was had by WSL students at the Valley Cats game! They saw a full 7 innings to make it back to school for their WSL Senior Walk-Through!

APHS AND NEW VISIONS: MEDICAL STUDENTS PRESENTED AT MEDEX
Recently, three APHS students from the New Visions: Medical program gave their annual MedEx talks, similar in format to a TED Talk, at HVCC.
